Over a relatively short period and in some cases, fitted Sony batteries Toshiba laptops caught fire. Following its investigation, the battery supplier has concluded that certain battery cells belonging to a particular batch may be affected by a particular problem may cause a security risk. According to the investigation of the supplier, this exchange program should be limited to the batch of batteries affected by this warning. Toshiba has decided to launch a new exchange program for batteries reported by the provider that include the elements produced in this specific batch.



Customers with Toshiba laptops contain batteries affected by the problem can exchange their batteries for free.

We strongly recommend our customers to participate in the new voluntary battery exchange as soon as possible.
The batteries will be exchanged for free. This offer applies only to the battery exchange defendants and does not cover any replacement Toshiba computers.

Before replacing the battery, continue to use your Toshiba laptop with the AC adapter cable supplied with the computer. We recommend you remove the battery to the provision of the new battery. Before removing it, unplug your laptop Toshiba power source and disconnect the AC adapter.

The affected batteries identified by the battery supplier equip some models of Toshiba laptops following. Only some batteries used by these models, not all are covered by the new exchange program for batteries.

Batteries are fitted to other models of Toshiba laptops are not affected and are not exchangeable under this program.

If your computer does not appear in the models listed above, you can ignore the rest of this document and the information on the new voluntary program for battery exchange. Check batteries

If you own one or more of Toshiba computers contained in the above list, it is imperative to check whether the affected batteries are actually installed on your computer. The simplest method and most reliable way to check this is to use the utility batterycheck. This utility will let you know if the battery powering a laptop Toshiba is concerned. If the verification is successful, the utility will launch your web browser and automatically fill a form on the Toshiba support Web site by giving the credentials of the computer and battery.

The utility software BatteryChecker being very small, its download is fast. Click the following link to download the utility BatteryChecker, then run it and follow the instructions. If you do not want to download and use the utility BatteryChecker, you can refer to the instructions in the document Visual inspection of the batteries to check for yourself if you have a battery affected by the problem by the model and serial number of batterie.The manual method is to remove the battery from the computer, then compare the identification numbers on the label of the battery with those listed in the Manual Battery Pack Identification document. We strongly recommend that you use our utility to make checking your battery.
