Portable Computers

The difference between a laptop computer and a desktop is that one is portable and the other is not. I guess you can figure out which is one and which is the other. Another good thing about the laptops is that they can be powered only by their batteries included in the computer, that can be charged using a power adapter. The desktop computers use only the electrical current coming from wall outlets. The laptops also use this type of current but only when they charge their batteries. Otherwise, you can use the computer basing on the capabilities of the integrated batteries. You can keep the computer plugged all the time as well, because these smart Li-Ion batteries used today know when they are fully charged and they stop immediately the charging process.

Usually a laptop computer is less powerful than a desktop created by the same company. You can’t compare a laptop created by a certain brand with another computer, a desktop one, created by other brand. The laptop could be better and this is not our fault. All I am saying is that a desktop computer lets the technician to enjoy more space to place all the internal components, thus to use larger memory chips, processors, motherboards and so on. The challenge taken today by the processors manufacturers and generally electronics manufacturers is to create smaller chips and to integrate in those more and more information. Some of these manufacturers succeed, some don’t. The ones that don’t, let other computer brands to make their appearance on this market, which is continuously changing.

The warranty period offered by a manufacturer for a desktop and for a laptop is the same. They don’t make any difference between those two products. If you want a better performance, you should get a desktop. If you want portability and quick access to the Internet, only a laptop could offer you this. With the Wireless technologies today, you can get access to the Internet from your home if you use a desktop computer too, but you can’t take the computer on top of a mountain and say that the Internet is working smoothly. Or you could, just to prove that nothing is impossible. But you will find it very difficult to carry that monster with you to a mountain’s top.

There are difficult to transport some laptop computers, so what more should we say about desktops? They are nearly impossible to transport and to be still cheerful after doing this. And when I say transport them I mean you should take the keyboard along, the mouse and the monitor. Don’t leave the desktop to remain without its friends. A laptop computer is much easier to transport, especially if it is a netbook.
