The R70 sports a 15.4″ widescreen WXGA LCD (1280×800) and it is absolutely beautiful. The glossy screen is very bright and lively, it really helps to bring out the colors. The screen is adequate protection for it does not have a big ripple effect when it is pressed firmly to the front and rear. It would have been nicer if the screen was higher resolution, especially since Vista tends to look really good on high resolution screens. The vertical viewing angles are OK, but the horizontal viewing angles are much better.

The noise was not a problem at all with this laptop, the R70 is quiet. Very quiet. Even after playing for several hours, the laptop does a good job keeping the sound barely audible. The optical drive makes a little noise, but nothing of the standard. However, the heat may be a problem for some people. After prolonged use, the palm rests get a little warm but not hot enough that your palms start to sweat. The video card is pretty hot at full load (80 C). The CPU time and hard drive are cool, even under load, the CPU time remain in the mid 30′s idle and under 55 at full load, and the remaining hard disk under 40C idle and load.
