How To Connect A Notebook To The Internet

One of the most occurring questions these days is “How can I hook up a computer to the Internet?”. Due to the fast pace evolution of technology, laptops and internet have became usual, daily activities. Nowadays almost everybody can afford a laptop, and with an extra $15 per month you can hook up your laptop to the Internet.

Being a portable device, I strongly recommend you to check if the system that you wish to buy has a wireless adapter. With this device you can connect to the internet every time your laptop detects a wireless signal. There are millions of wireless internet hotspots spread all over the world. These are usually public places such as train stations, airways or hotels.

There are two ways in which you can connect to the internet if you are using a laptop: wireless or non-wireless ( or the classic cable connection). Wireless technology is one of the greatest technological features of the 21th century. You can connect to the internet without using any wires, lowering the costs of installation and enhancing your mobility. The only disadvantage that this revolutionary technology presents is that it has a limited range of action and the signal loses strength as you step away from the source. Despite this, wireless internet is, in my opinion, the invention of the century, so far. It offers everybody internet access without the expensive, space consuming wires. If you want wireless internet, the only thing that you have to do is to contact your internet service provider (ISP) and they will install a wireless device in your home.. They will also give you an username and a password, and after that you will be free to browse.

Another connection method is the non-wireless connection, a few examples would be cable, DNS, optic fiber and so on. While these connections may be faster and more reliable, their installation and maintenance costs are greater. Another bad aspect regarding this type of connection is the fact that only one system can connect at a time ( if you don’t have a router ).

Wire internet will also reduce your mobility, but if you use your laptop as a personal computer and it always stays at home on your desk, then you will have no problem. In fact, in this case, I strongly recommend you this type of connection because it will be faster and somewhat more reliable that a wireless connection. Whatever connection you choose, I am sure that you will get the best results and quality. Wireless or not, fast or slower, an internet connection is a must have feature if you own a computer. I hope that you will make the right decision when it comes to hooking your laptop to the internet. Happy browsing!
