Differences Between Laptops And Netbooks

Nowadays, there are many people who use a laptop instead of a desktop computer because they realized that such a portable computer is more efficient and practical. There are some of us who really need to travel for long periods of time, and they need to take their personal computer with them. These people need to have a small, thin and lightweight laptop because they need something that doesn’t occupy a lot of space in their luggage. These small and thin laptops are also called by some ultra-portable laptop computers, or ultra-light. There also are some people who call them netbooks. From my point of view, this name is more appropriate.

There are many people who have to deal with the dilemma netbook vs laptop. Because of this, they do not know what to buy because in my opinion, they do not know for what they will use it and do not know what are the differences between them. Lets start first with the netbook. A netbook is just like another laptop but it is more smaller, thinner and very lightweight. They are generally made for basic jobs, web browsing and e-mailing. They can be equipped with a processor that is up to 1.3GHz. Almost all operating systems can run on these netbooks, including Windows XP and Linux. These small laptop computers have only 80GB of memory storage and for some people is just to little. The main advantages between a netbook vs laptop are that they are more smaller and thinner. Instead of the classical hard drives, they have flash memory storage and some notebooks are starting to use it too.

A big disadvantage for netbooks, is that the price is much higher than a notebook because the smaller it is, the more money you have to pay for it. Some special netbooks cost even around 5000 dollars. The things that you must look at when thinking of buying a netbook are:
- Battery performance – Being small, it won’t have such a long battery life so you must search for one that can stay as much as possible without recharging.
- Screen size and keyboard usability – If it has a small screen size, you won’t be able to see very good and your eye vision might have to hurt. The size of the keyboard is very important too because you need to use it correctly without no problems.
- Connectivity – you must have at least one USB port because from time to time you have to plug different things in.
- Cost – The price is the most important thing when buying an electronic device.

So, the differences between a netbook vs laptop are very big and from my point of view, netbooks will soon invade our lives because they are more efficient for many of us. The only thing that makes us to have second thoughts, is the price but when you have to travel and you need also to work, the price won’t be a problem and you will realize that the investment you just made will turn out to be a great one.
