HP Laptop Troubleshooting

Published by OnlyBestLaptops, on Oct 07 2010, in the categories: Uncategorized

In this article we will adress the troubleshooting wireless problems which may occur to the users of HP Laptops. Nowaday,s most laptops come equipped with wireless network adapters that enable users to establish network connections without having to connect a cable to their computers.

However, there may appear problems related to how to set up and use wireless network connections or why does not the wireless work. Wireless networks connection rely on special-purpose radio receivers and transmitters that substitute the exchange of messages over the air for the exchange of messages that occurs over wired connections. For example, when in the case of Windows Vista, it automatically searches for available wireless networks depending on the area you are.

Most HP laptops offer a wide range of troubleshooting tools that will help you solve your wireless problems without having to call customer support. But first of all, let’s explain what are the steps for creating a wireless connection. You should start by opening the Network and Sharing Center window and then to click on the Manage wireless networks in the left side. Then you click the Add button and the Manually connect to a wireless network window will appear with a wizard screen in which you have to enter the network name (SSID), identify the type of security (security scheme) in use and the encryption type. In order to set up a secured connection you will simply have to enter a password as your security key. You can choose to Start the connection automatically by cheching into the right box, especially in the case in which you’re setting up a wireless home network or office connection. In this way, every time you power on you computer it will automatically connect to the wireless.
You will sometimes disconnect from the wireless network and the reasons for this problem can be various. You can resolve this Internet connection problem by following the Troubleshooting Checklist which is similar for all HP Laptops. The first thing you should do is to to check whether  the router or AP is turned off and then by turning it on the problem should be solved. Another step will be to check your laptop PC’s power plan, because using the Power saver setting can cause your laptop to drop its network connection. If you have an HP laptop PC with HP Wireless Assistant installed, open HP Wireless Assistant and then look for the Status change messages checkbox. You can now click on Disconnect/Connect to the desired wireless connection. If the problem is still not solved then is most likely that the issue is related to the wireless router or AP end of the connection.

Check the Start this connection automatically if you’re setting up a wireless home network or office connection so your laptop PC automatically connects as soon as it’s in range. Check the Connect even if the network is not broadcasting checkbox if SSIDs are turned off at the wireless router or AP so that you attempt to connect under all circumstances.

Best Laptop For College

Published by OnlyBestLaptops, on Jul 20 2010, in the categories: Uncategorized

The computers had known a huge evolution during the last decades. When they were first created they were some really huge devices that could do just some simple tasks. But in time they evolved a lot, becoming smaller and smaller, and also more and more powerful. Today we have the laptops (that are actually portable computers), and they are much smaller, thinner and lighter than a regular PC, but they can do almost all the same tasks. They are probably not as good as the desktop computers for the advanced users, that are doing really complex tasks, but for most of the home users a laptop can work just as well as a desktop PC.

The laptops are quite really popular these days, and they are preferred by many people instead of a computer. There are many companies on the market, and they are offering all sorts of models of notebooks, with different features, prices and sizes. Some of the best laptop producers are: Hewlett Packard, Acer, Dell, Asus, Toshiba, Apple, Alienware, Sony,  Lenovo, MSI and Fujitsu.

Depending on the technical details and dimensions they have, the laptops can be used for different activities. Those that are really small, and don’t have very powerful features (which are known as netbooks) can be used for browsing the internet, writing documents, and doing other simple activities. Those that have a bigger display screen and also better features can be used as a desktop computer replacement. There are also laptops made for business men, and also those that are really powerful, and have premium features…and these can be used for playing complex video games, or doing video editing or audio editing. A category of people that are usually using a laptop are the college students. It usually depends on the type of person, but most of the students will do two main activities on their laptop – study and have fun. Some may study more, others may have more fun…and for these activities there are some features needed for the best laptop for college.

Let’s begin with the studying…and end with the fun, because that is the most interesting part :) . For writing on the laptop at courses, and for browsing the internet in search of all sorts of college related information, even a netbook can be good. Actually it will be really good, since it is small and portable, so that the student can easily take it at courses and also when he is traveling. A netbook is also cheaper compared to a bigger laptop, and it is known that college students don’t have so much money.

But for the second part, the fun, things get a little more complicated. Besides browsing the internet and chatting with friends and family (so a built in webcam is required), the student will also want to watch movies and play video games. And for these activities he will definitely need a more powerful laptop.

First of all it will need to have a larger display screen, in order to have a good video quality for movies and games…so a netbook is not good anymore. Probably the student will want to see the newest movies in High Definition, and to play the recent video games that are really complex -  so he will need a powerful laptop, with a fast processor, a big RAM memory and also a powerful graphics engine. And of course, a big hard drive in order to store all of his music, movies, games and so on.

There are many laptops that are fulfilling these features, and one of the best laptop for college can be the Apple ® – MacBook ® Pro / Intel ® Core ™ i5 Processor / 15.4 ” Display / 4 GB Memory / 320 GB Hard Drive – Aluminum, Model: MC 371 LL/A. This is a powerful laptop, that can support both fun activities and studying, but it is also a really expensive one, with a price of 1,800 dollars. So the student will definitely need some help from the parents when buying this laptop.

If you too are a student, and you already have a laptop, tell us more about it, and if you think it is good for you or not. Have a nice day!
