HP Vs Toshiba Laptop

Published by OnlyBestLaptops, on Nov 15 2010, in the categories: Compare, HP, Spotlight, Technology, Toshiba

<p>Most of the common laptop users are not that committed to a particular brand. They have general ideas and preferences, but they don’t appeal to a certain brand. When going out to buy a laptop, you have to face tough decisions regarding the product you desire. You have to find the perfect compromise between price, performance and personal requirements (such as screen size and accessories).

<p>Many brands are associated as being in competition on the same target. Such an example is <strong>HP vs. Toshiba</strong>. The reason is very simple: similar performances and similar prices. We will try to find the differences between these two brands. For this, you have to find a laptop from each manufacturer, that have very similar specifications. To not be interpreted as advertising for one brand, we shall select older models of HP and Toshiba for this example. We have the <strong>HP Pavilion DV4170 vs. the Toshiba Satellite M45-S355</strong>. We will take every specification offered by the manufacturers and analyze them in parallel.

First, we will look at the processor because it’s one of the most important parts and you can’t really upgrade it. Both laptops have Pentium CPUs with 533 MHz FSB and 2 MB L2 cache, but the Toshiba has a slightly more powerful one (M750 of 1.86 GHz) than the HP model in question (the M740 of 1.73 GHz). It’s not a big difference but for some it may be an important (although you can’t really feel the difference). The RAM memory and video card are practically identical (1 GB of DDR333 SDRAM and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 of 128 MB shared). At first sight, the hard drives are identical (do to the 100GB storage space each laptop features), but the difference is again on the Toshiba side, thanks to the 5400RPM speed, superior to the 4200 RPM provided by the HP HDD.

The next thing that we saw was the speakers; Toshiba comes equipped with Harmon Kardon and HP with Altec Lansing. They are both good and give similar sounds, but the difference is the position: on the Toshiba the speakers are in the back, under the laptop, while the HP has the speakers in the front of the case; here, opinions may vary, because it’s a matter of preference. A plus for HP is the exceptional ports because HP offers Media Card Reader (SD, MMC, Memory stick/pro, XD, Smart Media), express card and IR, while Toshiba offers only media card reader (MMC, SD, memory stick/pro and XD). One thing that Toshiba hasn’t got and HP does is a remote located in the card slot and also HP headphones.

Another advantage of HP is HP Quick Play; it’s a feature that allows the user to play CDs, DVDs and MP3s from the hard drive without booting. The Toshiba also has its own version, the Toshiba Express Media Player, but this doesn’t allow playing MP3s from HDD, just CDs and DVDs. The worst part of the <strong>Toshiba</strong> when <strong>compared to HP</strong> is the battery life. Usually the battery life of this Toshiba is around 2 hours and a half, less than the 3 hours and 20 that is offered by HP. Displays are almost identical, the Toshiba has a 15.4 inch WXGA display with TruBrite Technology and the HP has a 15.4 inch WXGA HD BrightView screen. The prices are similar, but the HP is more expensive.

From here you will have to decide which one you like best (<strong>Toshiba vs. HP</strong>), and apply the method in real world, when you search for a laptop of your own.11

Toshiba Laptop Software Problems

Published by OnlyBestLaptops, on Nov 14 2010, in the categories: Spotlight, Technology, Toshiba

<p>Looking through forums when searching for problems with <strong>Toshiba</strong>, we found something interesting that does not seem like this only to Toshiba users: inability of iTunes to burn disks from a point on. When the message “<strong>disk burner or software not found</strong>” pops up, most people go crazy; you really need to burn a disk and you are unable to finish your task at work or an important project for school.

<p>In fact, most computers that use iTunes to burn disks are company computers. Most people have come to realize that the best software to write CDs and DVDs are Nero, Audacity, CDburnerXPpro and IMGburn. Usually, once this message occurs, not many of us want to deal with it and turn to another software. If you wish to do this, we will put a link for every application written above:
<p>CDex – opensource – <a href=”http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/” target=”_blank”>cdexos.sourceforge.net</a><br /> Audacity – opensource – <a href=”http://audacity.sourceforge.net/” target=”_blank”>audacity.sourceforge.net</a><br /> CDburnerXPpro – freeware – <a href=”http://www.cdburnerxp.se/” target=”_blank”>www.cdburnerxp.se</a><br /> Infrarrecorder – opensource – <a href=”http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net/” target=”_blank”>infrarecorder.sourceforge.net</a><br /> IMGburn – freeware – <a href=”http://imgburn.com/” target=”_blank”>imgburn.com</a>

When the boss yells at you that you must use iTunes, you really have to fix it. One of the best solutions (that might fix not only the disk burning issue, but more problems than you might think) is driving a repair install of the operating system. While you are doing this, you might want to reinstall the latest drivers as well. When using Windows, many applications can go wrong and even crash your system. This might fix more problems than you think, especially if you haven’t reinstalled it in some time. Also, 32 drivers don’t work great on 64 bit operating systems, so be sure you take this in consideration (correct software is crucial for any computer and user).

Another thing you should try is to download some additional software that might fix the problem. Most people who encountered this issue are Vista 64 bit users. As you might have been hearing, Vista is a very unstable operating system and, with all its gadgets, even incomplete. You have to download two drivers that did the job for most: GEARS drivers and SPTD driver. You can find the Gears driver at this link: <a href=”http://www.gearsoftware.com/wiki/index.php?title=SPTD_Drivers” target=”_blank”>http://www.gearsoftware.com/wiki/ind…e=SPTD_Drivers</a> ” and the STPD driver from this link: <a href=”http://forum.duplexsecure.com/showthread.php?t=274″>http://forum.duplexsecure.com/showthread.php?t=274</a>. For those who use 32 bit editions of XP, you can try to download the GEARS driver here following this link: <a href=”https://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm”>https://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm</a>.

The software above is intended for resolving issues not only for iTunes, but for many other applications as well. There are some applications that can post the same errors like “Disk burner or software not found” like Nero for instance. The great thing about Nero is that when you reinstall it the problem goes away. Itunes was not intended for Windows, but not the compatibility is the problem here.

Over the years, Apple has demonstrated that its software is rather reliable, but when it starts to do damage, it’s very hard to find a solution that worth’s it. Many have tried to eliminate Apple software, but there is something missing when you don’t see iTunes or QuickTime and so on as an alternative. The software we just recommended above resolve many more issues with the applications installed on your computer like Winamp and many more.

When facing messages like “<strong>Disk burner or software not found” on your Toshiba</strong> laptop, don’t throw away iTunes because it does offer you general stability and it does a quality job; just remember to use the recommended software for your Operating System and you won’t face any problems.11

Toshiba Tecra Laptop Problems

Published by OnlyBestLaptops, on Nov 13 2010, in the categories: Technology, Toshiba, Useful Info

Toshiba is a well known and respected brand. A leader on the market, it offers a suitable solution when it comes to the latest technological gadgets. The Japanese brand has extended throughout the world offering innovation and artistry for all.

Toshiba Tecra line is a great solution for your business, thus it combines great performance for multitasking with an elegant design and hot features, a great way for those workaholics with lots to do and short time. The most interesting feature is the eco-smart design, therefore Toshiba is not only perfect for your business but also for the environment. They come with genuine Windows 7 (pre-installed), so do no bother to install another operational system, except if you are not familiar with Windows 7.

We have emphasized the good features of Toshiba Tecra Laptops, let us focus on the not so good ones, because let us face it, every gadget has its good and not so good parts, and it is best to know the weak points as well as the strong ones. I have been researching around the internet to find the weak points, as I mentioned above and the most frequent one is that the HDD makes some problems and runs a bit slow.  If you are „lucky” enough to get a virus in your system, then your system is practically dead, because it dramatically slow all its features down.

Even after  you have re-formatted the system it does not seem do help. Many have complained that after cleaning the system and even re-installing Windows the system was still running slow, therefore the only answer is that the hardware has a problem. Although Toshiba is well known for good hard features, you may just be the lucky one to get a laptop with a hard problem.

Another issue with Tecra, which is worse I guess is that when trying to listen to music the quality of the music is very bad. Of course, the solution would be deleting the old sound driver and installing a new one, if you do not have The genuine drivers (you should have received them in the package with you laptop), then it is a must that you download the driver from the official Toshiba site ( there are free ones as well as those you have to pay for, it is you choice nevertheless), so you avoid other surprises (like trojan or even worse  spy wear).

If this does not work, and the problem persists then we go back to the problem mentioned above: hardware failure. Some of the components from the main board may affect the sound quality if they do not properly  work.  Another good solution would be the Toshiba recovery  CD, that is if you have one, but still if we are talking about a hardware failure then, there is nothing  else to do than change  the laptop.

The conclusion is that in spite of the original design and feature, the artistry there might be some problems and ToshibaTecra laptop may run slow. Still you may one the lucky one that will not have any problems and you Toshiba Tecra laptop will be the best of the best. Hope for the best!11

Sony Laptop Vs Toshiba Laptop

Published by OnlyBestLaptops, on Nov 13 2010, in the categories: Compare, sony, Technology, Toshiba, Useful Info

We have already established that the desktop system has been slowly replaced by laptops or notebooks, due to the mobility and artistry that laptops offer. Having settled the supremacy of the laptop over the desktop system, it is now time to continue our permanent search for the perfect laptop that is the laptop that suits you best.

The topic of the day is a comparison between Sony and Toshiba, two of the best and most famous brands on the market, which one shall we choose? They both have pros and cons, still one must be better, let’s see which that is.

Sony has great design features, I for one love Sony, always stylish, beautiful LCD colors and cool external components. The Sony laptops are manufactured in Quanta, that means great quality and furthermore originality. I think this is the best way to describe a Sony laptop: ORIGINAL. You can always tell a genuine Sony from a fake one.

Nevertheless, the originality feature is not always in the best interest of the client, because due to their originality, Sony parts are a bit hard to find and also expensive, or you might get „ lucky” and they will not send you the parts you need but ask you to send your laptop and they will fix the problem (I am talking here about the laptops that are still under warranty, because after the warranty expires the problem is even bigger). But do not feel at ease because in most cases the bill is outrageous (although for laptops under warranty the costumer does not need to pay for service until the laptop problems are due to the costumer’s fault). Another weak point with Sony is the battery life is kind of short therefore restraining your mobility.

Let’s see how Toshiba manages? The screen features are not as better as those of Sony, but it has a longer battery life and due to the Japanese fabrication the parts are not as hard to find or as expensive, and there are no warranty complaints, as I heard.  Therefore are you having problems with Toshiba components no worries? If they are under warranty they will change it without problems, and if not you can rebuild you hole laptop with parts that you buy yourself, so respect for Toshiba for this! When it comes to price Toshiba is more accessible. Still Toshiba tends to overhead faster than Sony after a long use, so that’s a bad one for Toshiba.

Nevertheless the choice is yours between Sony and Toshiba. You might not have problems regardless the laptop you buy, your might just have. As I said in a previous article, when buying a laptop you must consider your needs and afterwards adapt your needs to what you what to buy. There will always be pros and cons no matter what you choose, still I am curious what would you choose: the Sony originality or Toshiba’s practical approach? I would choose Sony regardless of its weak points, but this is only my opinion, it does not have to be yours as well.11
