Refinement is the key word. Unfortunately, Acer has gone a little further and a little too stripped the machine. No no numeric keypad, minimalist connectors (one VGA, 3 USB, 1 RJ45), no e-SATA connectors, FireWire, webcam or memory card reader. The price is pulled down and not without consequences. Its maximum range is quoted to 13.45 and may include an optional 3G module. It has HDMI, Headphone, Microphone, Ethernet and USB (x3). The 17 HP Envy is characterized by a size 17 inches. It can support up to 2TB (2000GB) of storage space and has a Radeon Mobility HD 5850. The processors are available for Core i5 and Core i7.

It can be optionally equipped with an ATI graphics card and has a maximum storage space of 640 GB as well as options for GPS modules, Bluetooth and 3G.This model incorporates ports VGA, HDMI, Ethernet, Headphone, Microphone and USB (x4) and a flat keys.

Handling, ergonomics: well finished but brilliant Abuse. The Eee PC 1101HA comes in two colors: black or white. The unit does not lack class and is completely brilliant finish, except on the keyboard of the machine. While this brings an undeniable class (he should still love the shine), it is also its greatest fault. The reflections are very present and unavoidable fingerprints after a few minutes of use. It then passes his time to clean it and we finally bring himself to leave as it is (cover marks).

Asus Eee PC 1101HA. The keyboard is large, with big buttons and smooth plates (17 x 16 mm). The comfortable typing is good, despite a certain firmness. The auxiliary functions are clearly visible with a blue logo. The touchpad (multi-touch) blends with the rest of the hull and noticed only by the presence of small spikes that stand out. Although touch is thus a bit peculiar, gliding is fast and precise.

The bar for clicks is all chrome and lies just below the touchpad. The quality is good but the clicking noise is still quite present.  Asus Eee PC 1101HA webcam image is just right. The colors are a bit too hot and burned areas are overexposed. We also note a lack of fluidity. In the darkness, the result is difficult to use. It is then a good light source for light.  The Asus Eee PC 1101HA is discrete. Much of the time we just hear a slight breakdown.

The murmur increases only for treatments heavy photo or video.  Side connections, it’s very classic. We thus find three USB 2.0, 1 VGA, 1 headphone, 1 microphone, 1 RJ45, 1 memory card reader and a 2 port lock. Wi-Fi b / g / n is also present. We would have liked to find an HDMI port on this model.  On the PC, only one trap is present and allows access to the RAM. The battery is removable.

Bad news, the panel is once again brilliant. The reflections are very present and it is therefore difficult to use the Eee PC 1101HA outdoors. Even more than the maximum brightness of the slab is limited to 145 cd / m². The definition of the screen is very good for a screen this size, with 1366 x 768 pixels. Ideal for movies with 16:9.

The technology used is clearly the NT, with a response time of 5 ms equivalent models. Accordingly, viewing angles above and below are short, with sufficient reactivity for desktop use and movies. The default colors are false, with a variance (Delta E) of 10.3 and a very strong drift the blue color. The contrast is equally bad (as most laptops at the time) with a rate of 284:1. We measured black level of 0.37 cd / m², white at 105 cd / m².11

Samsung continues its momentum and completes its range of netbooks with this model here: the N120. Slightly larger than its predecessor, it still loads an Intel Atom N270, a slab 10 inches (1024 x 600 pixels) and includes a slightly larger keyboard.

Handling, ergonomics. The entire hull of this model is black, matte. This is the type of coating that we prefer because it is insensitive to fingerprints. The finishes are good and the laptop gives a very good impression of solidity.

Samsung announces a larger keyboard on this model. This is indeed the case even if it must be stressed, the increase compared to NC10 is measured. The touchpad is also using this space to nibble gain a few millimeters in size and closer to that of the Asus 1000HE.

The webcam performs very well on the party image. The sound is less good. Located above the keyboard, the microphone captures all keystrokes during recordings and makes voice slightly muffled.

On the slices of the unit include: 3 USB, 1 RJ45, 2 mini-jacks, an SD card reader and a VGA.

Under the netbook, a trapdoor giving access to the RAM (memory). RJ45,  2 mini-jacks, USB, VGA, SD slot, 2 USB.

Calculations. We take the same and start again. No change later processor. This is always the Atom N270 leading the dance, in contrast to 1000HE that passed N280 (Intel page in English).

In all tests, little change even though this model is a bit faster than the Asus. Overall, this is still very slow compared to a netbook classic.

In video, like all netbooks based on Intel Atom and the duo integrated graphics 945GSE must make a cross on the HD video very heavy.

Play. This model includes the same chip that all the other netbooks tested to date. It behaves logically in the same way and has few resources on that part.

Audio. Not much to say about this audio N120 headphone output is clean enough. The speakers frankly doubtful. They can provide assistance if needed, but that’s about all. Do not count on it to watch a movie or listening to music.

Mobility Autonomy. 200 grams lighter than the approximately 1000HE, this computer also offers excellent battery life measured in 5:39 (continuous video playback, Wi-Fi off and screen brightness at 100 cd / m²). Or 20 minutes less than the Asus, however, is an excellent result.

Screen. Nothing new under the sun. The slabs of laptop are still as bad bill. The colors come out very blue by default (this can be corrected by a color profile to download Digital-Focus), viewing angles are average and bad sides on the top and bottom and responsiveness is also average.

One point less for this netbook, Samsung has decided to incorporate a glossy panel. A bad choice for a mobile device because it causes a mirror effect when you look at the screen. This approach cost him a star in the final.

Note the wasted space around the slab is quite large (2.5 cm which are housed in plastic enclosures). The price to pay for a larger keyboard.11

Second Netbook signed Lenovo, the S10-2 S10 succeeds first version tested in January 2009. For this model, the manufacturer claims to combine design and ergonomics.Handling, ergonomics. The hull of the product mix brighter features (back of the screen) and matt (around the keyboard and screen). All offers good finishing and one point we heard: the plastic parts of the hinge of the screen that bend under pressure. The keypad occupies much space available to it and offers a number of buttons with the “PgUp” and “PgDn” (above arrows).

One point we grieve, the presence of Fn key bottom left, in place of “Ctrl”. For those familiar with the keystroke blind is a great source of errors, especially on the copy / paste operations. The touchpad, multitouch is not the largest we have encountered and its surface is 5.5 x 3.4 cm.

Noise in operation, we noted a startup audible fans during heavy operations performed by the machine. A typical example, a script that requires Photoshop significant work from the CPU. Outside these periods the machine is silent. It picks up the internal noise of the machine and becomes downright useless if you typing.

One last point makes the use of this particular device: the framing tight. If you put the computer on your lap, it nearly framework as your face. To get a broader view, we must move away from the machine. On the slices of the device, the following interfaces are available: 3 USB, 1 VGA, 1 RJ45, 2 Jacks and a mini SD slot. This is the bare minimum and what you can find on most netbooks.

On the laptop, two doors give access to a 2.5-inch HDD Western Digital 160GB Scorpio Blue, a smart Wi-Fi and 1 GB of RAM brand Sharetronic. Calculations. No major changes from one machine to another. The Intel Atom throne among the components and sets the tone. On average, compared to a machine with a powerful dual-core processor, the computation times are five times more slowly. However, you can perform all types of operations. Just be patient. In video playback, the limits of the machine are very heavy on the HD (Blu-Ray file type). Audio. This netbook is certainly the best we have heard. The headphone output suffers from a slight hum which means that high volume, but disappears from the presence of his play. The speakers are not excellent, but still the best (least worst?) Found on a netbook. Mobility Autonomy. The S10-2 is positioned just above the 3 kg with its battery cells. It is a very good score for a 10-inch model. The test of independence is seriously mess up the table since it is only 2:18 (play streaming video, wireless off, screen at 100 cdm ²). It is a very bad score, away from the U115 7:00.

In France, the machine will be marketed with a 6 cell battery and 349 euros. Our loan application for this version is already gilded from the manufacturer and we will certainly update this section with the high capacity version.11
