Notebook Computer Hardware Parts

I am sure that everyone of us is working each day with a laptop computer, but there are few people who really know what a laptop computer is made of. A laptop computer is a PC designed with the purpose of being used no matter where you want to be. Made for mobile use, it is a “small and light box” which can easily sit on the lap of a person while using it.

Usually, a laptop computer has the same typical components that a desktop computer has it: a display, keyboard, a touchpad (trackpad, pointing stick), speakers and a baterry in one small and light unit. The battery is rechargeable and can be charged from an AC adapter and has the special power of storing enough energy to run the laptop computer for two to five hours without using the AC adapter. All depends on the configuration and the power management that a laptop computer has it. Now, I think it is the time for a short history about laptop computers. The first laptop computers which use the flip form factor had appeared in 1980. The Dulmont Magnum model “was discovered” in Australia in 1981 year, but it was brought on the international market only in 1984. The GRiD Compass 1100 has the price of 8150 dollars and was released in 1982, being used only at NASA and other military organizations. Another model is Gavilan SC, released in 1983, it was the first first notebook marketed that was using the name of laptop.

Concerning the basic components of a laptop computer, it must be clear to everyone that the laptop computers components functions are very alike with the components of their desktop counterparts. Even if the design of laptop computers bound on power and size, these aspects also limit the laptop computers parts performance.

Further on I will make a list of distinguishing features between laptop computer`s components and desktop computer`s components. I will start with the laptop computers motherboards. If a desktop computer board has some slots for expansion cards (3 to 7), a board for a small integrated laptop computer does not have expansion slots. The only expansion possible in the case of laptop computers being through an external port such as USB. There other boards that have either Express card, or proprietary expansion slots. In the motherboard are implemented the networking, the storage controllers, the sound card and the external ports.

The Other important laptop computer components are as follows: The central processing unit (CPU), the memory (RAM), the expansion cards, the power supply (laptop computers are powered by a rechargeable battery that can be charged using the external power supply), the battery, the video display controller (at laptop computers, the video controller is integrated into the chipset), the display (the most popular laptop computers have 12 inches, meaning 30 cm, and resolutions of 1280×800). And the last four components of a laptop computer are the removable media drives, the internal storage (the hard disks of the laptop computers are smaller that those of desktop computers-2.5 inches), the input and the ports

The notebooks are getting quite really popular these days, and not just among business men, but among people of all ages and professions. A notebook has all of the components of a desktop computer, and is capable of doing the same tasks, only that it is much smaller and lighter. So it is portable and you can take anywhere and use it anytime you need. The business men were the firsts to use notebooks because they are traveling a lot, and they can really use a computer while they are in the plane, or while they are at the hotel room in a new city. They can use it to write mails to the boss or to the business partners, to prepare their presentation for the next day, and also to do things for their personal use. But today many people are buying a laptop instead of a new desktop computer, even though they are not traveling so much. But they are choosing the laptop because of its small dimensions, because it doesn’t take so much space on the desk. And who knows when they might be traveling, and in that case the laptop will be really useful.

There are many companies that are producing notebook computers and here are some of the best names in the world: Hewlett Packard, Acer, Asus, Dell, Sony, Toshiba, Lenovo, Fujitsu, MSI and Apple. Which is the best brand of laptop

Published by OnlyBestLaptops, on Aug 03 2010, in the categories: Purchasing tips

Everyone wants to know which is the best brand of laptops in the world? But actually no one can know the answer to this question, and this is because there are many good laptop producers, and each one is offering both really good and expensive laptops and also cheaper ones that are also weaker. Here is a list of the best companies that are making laptops right now on the market: HP, Dell, Asus, Lenovo, Acer, Apple, Sony, Toshiba, Fujitsu, MSI, Alienware and Gateway. If you buy a laptop from any of these companies it will have a good quality and work fine, but this of course depends on the technical details it has.

And since most of these companies are using the same components (Intel processors, NVIDIA graphic cards and so on), after all it doesn’t matter which company made the laptop, it matters what technical details and features it has. In terms of sales of laptops, HP is the leader, followed by Acer, Dell, Lenovo and Toshiba. But this doesn’t mean that HP is the best brand of laptops because it has many cheap models on the market, and that’s why so many people are buying them. If you consider just the really powerful laptops it has, then the best companies would be Apple and Alienware, because they sell just powerful laptops with high end features and also with really big prices. And for today we’ll focus on just one of these companies, and we’ll choose Acer.

Acer is a large multinational company that produces all sort of electronic devices such as: computers , laptops, PDA-s (Personal Digital Assistant), monitors, computer accessories, storage devices and others. The company is originary from Taiwan, so it has the headquarters at Taipei, Taiwan. But of course, since it is a multinational company it has many other stores and factories all over the world. In 2009 Acer was the second best producer of computers in the world. The company was founded many years ago, in 1976, so it has a great experience in this domain, and you can really trust the quality of its products. A laptop is capable of doing all of the tasks that a normal computer does, only that it is much smaller, thinner, lighter -  so it is highly portable. Today the laptops are gaining more and more popularity, and in a few years there will definitely be more notebooks than desktop computers. Acer is also offering some good models of laptops, and there are three series that you can choose from. These are: the TravelMate series, the Aspire series and also the Extensa series. Each series has some other models in it, and each one comes with different designs and characteristics.

So now let’s take a random model of laptop from Acer, and discuss more about it. We’ll choose the TravelMate 8571 Timeline.

With a simple and black design and no fancy drawings and other stuff like this, this laptop is suited for the business men that are traveling a lot and that need to take care of their business anywhere they go.  This laptop is designed to work hard for you, and to handle even the most demanding business tasks…and it will do all of these with quite a good life of the battery. It provides up to eight hours of continuous working, which is quite enough even for a long journey with the plane. It comes with a 15.6 inch display and with a weight of just 5 lbs. It also features integrated wireless LAN, a webcam, Bluetooth technology and also gigabit LAN. And now here are all of the technical specifications for this laptop:

-         processor – Intel ® Core ™ 2 Duo Processor SU 9400 (3 MB L 2 cache, 1.40 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)

-         operating system – Genuine Windows 7 Professional, 32 bit version

-         memory – 4 GB (2/2) DDR 3 1066 SDRAM

-         hard drive – 320 GB SATA

-         integrated Super-Multi drive

-         5 in 1 card reader

-         15.6 inch monitor with a max resolution of 1366 x 768

-         Video card – Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 MHD

-         802.11 a/ b/ g/Draft-N WLAN

-          Bluetooth®

-         gigabit LAN

-         webcam

So here were a few words about one of the laptop models offered by Acer. But of course there are so many more, and some of them are even much better than the model we presented. If you too own an Acer laptop, we invite you to tell us more about it.  Have a nice day!

Dell Products Repair Rate

Published by OnlyBestLaptops, on Aug 03 2010, in the categories: Dell, Purchasing tips

When you want to buy a certain laptop computer, it is important for you to have a strong laptop computer background because some aspects must be taken into consideration. First, you must read information about each laptop computer manufacture or brand, and then you will be able to put all the offers in balance and to decide which is the one that fits your financial possibilities and needs the best.

In order to follow the steps mentioned above, I will explain to you better. The processor is very important when talking about laptop computers. So, you must do a strong comparison between what a processor is really capable of and what you are expecting from a processor. At the same time aspects of main importance are the memories, the graphics cards the buses, the network connections and so on. If your primarily need is playing games on laptop computers, you must know that a laptop computer will not satisfy you entirely from this point of view. Ok, you want portability, buy a laptop computer because there are many brands, like Dell, that have all you need for your playing pleasure.

When you decide to buy a Dell laptop computer, just don`t worry, be happy! You can refer to Dell laptop computer manufacturers with any problem concerning its repair rate. Dell has fewer problems with internal components, than with batteries. Such good news, isn’t? Your laptop computer doesn’t have to face problems when talking about inter-connectivity of the components. A component should be compatible with with another component. Of course, Dell company has faced some problems in time, but this has encouraged it to be stronger. I can say louder and louder that Dell is a very reliable corporation and its products are of great trust. When you aren’t certain if the repair rate of a laptop computer manufacturer is high or low, you shouldn’t buy the product.

As well as people, all laptop computers have a term of living. Someone said that electronics have a higher rate of becoming useless, and not a higher repair rate. And this because laptop computer manufacturers are working day and night in order to bring new products on market as soon as possible. The market of laptop computers is very competitive and you must be the best – it is like a fight between laptop computer producers. This doesn’t mean that it isn’t enough space place for everyone on the market of laptop computers. It is enough place for everyone who wants to “join the club”. Welcome to everyone who has new and good ideas. Customers like to be spoiled. If a company remains with a step back, it is fined with some vanished customers. Then, the customer will choose the company which offers better services.

In order to find out which is the repair rate for Dell laptop computers , I advice you to read users`opinions from specialized websites. There are comments of people who have just used the same device you want to buy and they can help you a lot! Listen to them carefully!
