HP Mini 1000 is a much awaited update for the previous HP Mini-Note 2133. This device is completely refreshed and embodies a configuration for any budget. This might well be the best from the Mini series yet.

This new version has an almost identical design as the previous model but with a thinner body and a light chassis as plastic was used in the construction of this device. The best feature about this model is the very comfortable and large keyboard. It’s a pleasure to use it as it’s one of the best notebook keyboards out there.

The build quality is very good exceeding the quality other notebooks in its class offer. It feels very solid despite the plastic that’s everywhere. A great feature about it is that you can easily upgrade it as you wish. It does not have the “void warranty if removed” stamp so you can meddle with it as much as you want as long as you know what you are doing. You also have an extremely easy access to the RAM slots which is a plus.

The display is great, with very good colors and contrast but it is also very reflective so you might want to avoid using it in a bright light environment. The back light is good, but it glares easily. The viewing angles are acceptable.

The keyboard and touch pad are great given the size of the device. You won’t have any problems and you will feel very comfortable using them. If you manage to get your palms aligned properly, you will love the layout of this keyboard. You also don’t get any keyboard flex due to the thin chassis. The only thing you have to get used to when it comes to the touch pad are the buttons which are placed on each side of the pad. That should be easy since they are very responsive and provide a good feedback.

The performance is great; you will be able to get everyday tasks done very easily. The only issue you might have is with the gaming experience but, in the end,  you don’t get this kind of device for gaming. The speakers sound very nice for a notebook.

Laptops with the increasing processing power and the decline in prices have become a good substitute for traditional desktop personal computer.
