With a budget of 1000$ you can get a solid notebook that will surely satisfy your needs since the prices dropped considerably with time. Here’s a list that will help you to make the right decision.
Gateway NV5929u Notebook
This is a mainstream laptop that comes with a very good value. The best one you could buy with a budget of $1000.
It offers high-end performance hardware that is more than satisfactory. It has a solid feel to it, the keyboard and the track pad could use some improvements, but they can surely be used without too many problems.
It has an elegant design, its very functional but not the most portable of all. Nonetheless, it’s a very good choice if you want a strong performance laptop without spending too much.

Best Notebooks under $1000
Apple 13,3 inch Macbook MC516LL
This is the only notebook that Apple still produces and incorporates the classic pure-white design (which I am quite fond of). A design line that used to dominate Apple products.
It has that unibody design that we all like, the hardware does its job proper, the graphic card being better than most of the 13 inch notebooks pack.
The main advantage with this one is that is highly portable with a good battery life. Apple 13,3 inch Macbook MC516LL is one of the most powerful 13 inch notebook that money can buy. But keep in mind that with a budget of $1000 you will only get the base version.

Lenovo ThinkPad T410
Thinkpad is a very well built notebook offering durability with its protective features. Perfect if you find yourself on the road a lot.
It has a classic design, basic yet very user friendly. The keyboard is one of the best you’ll get on a notebook. The display is decent and in terms of performance it can be equipped with lots of optional components.
You won’t get the best looking notebook with this one but you will surely get one of the most durable.11
Best Business Laptop
Published by OnlyBestLaptops, on Apr 08 2011, in the categories: laptops, lenovo
When you’re looking for a business laptop the first things that come to your mind are portability, weight and computing power. The Lenovo ThinkPad X201Tablet brings just that to the game. The series has been popular with people always on the move for some time now and it has been regarded as the best business convertible on the market.
You won’t spot too many differences between X201 and X200. Like its younger brothers it has a black chassis, a fingerprint reader, a screen rotating button and the already established button for the ThinkVantage menu (former Lenovo Utilities). X201 is fairly light and shouldn’t rise any problems to carry around.

Best Business Laptop
ThinkPad X201 doesn’t heat too much which is a plus given the fact that most of the people who will use it won’t always be in the most comfortable setting. The temperature was lower than any category average regardless of the area it was measured on.
As with its many features, X201 has the same keyboard as X200, very responsive but a little too cramped for my taste. It could have used a little more space in order to make it as comfortable as possible. As with X200 the palm resting space is small, so you could find yourself in a quite uncomfortable position after a long use of the keyboard.

Best Business Laptop
The matte (thumbs up!) display is quite bright, has good colors and surprisingly good viewing angles. The screen rotates 360 degrees on a solid hinge. Unfortunately it can get quite “messy” as it gathers a lot of fingerprints with use. The finger input is recognized very well and is very responsive to every command.
You can use the onscreen keyboard, but the stylus is much more comfortable whether you’re just taking notes or typing in an URL.
Although it is light as far as business laptops come, it feels a little heavier than it should but maybe that’s just me being picky al the time.
The worst part about X201 are the speakers. It’s not a multimedia device, I know, but those two speakers can literally make your music unlistenable. In conclusion, a lot of power to use in a small package, could be lighter and thinner but if you do need a business laptop/tablet this would be your best choice.11
Lenovo S10 Computer

Second Netbook signed Lenovo, the S10-2 S10 succeeds first version tested in January 2009. For this model, the manufacturer claims to combine design and ergonomics.Handling, ergonomics. The hull of the product mix brighter features (back of the screen) and matt (around the keyboard and screen). All offers good finishing and one point we heard: the plastic parts of the hinge of the screen that bend under pressure. The keypad occupies much space available to it and offers a number of buttons with the “PgUp” and “PgDn” (above arrows).
One point we grieve, the presence of Fn key bottom left, in place of “Ctrl”. For those familiar with the keystroke blind is a great source of errors, especially on the copy / paste operations. The touchpad, multitouch is not the largest we have encountered and its surface is 5.5 x 3.4 cm.
Noise in operation, we noted a startup audible fans during heavy operations performed by the machine. A typical example, a script that requires Photoshop significant work from the CPU. Outside these periods the machine is silent. It picks up the internal noise of the machine and becomes downright useless if you typing.
One last point makes the use of this particular device: the framing tight. If you put the computer on your lap, it nearly framework as your face. To get a broader view, we must move away from the machine. On the slices of the device, the following interfaces are available: 3 USB, 1 VGA, 1 RJ45, 2 Jacks and a mini SD slot. This is the bare minimum and what you can find on most netbooks.
On the laptop, two doors give access to a 2.5-inch HDD Western Digital 160GB Scorpio Blue, a smart Wi-Fi and 1 GB of RAM brand Sharetronic. Calculations. No major changes from one machine to another. The Intel Atom throne among the components and sets the tone. On average, compared to a machine with a powerful dual-core processor, the computation times are five times more slowly. However, you can perform all types of operations. Just be patient. In video playback, the limits of the machine are very heavy on the HD (Blu-Ray file type). Audio. This netbook is certainly the best we have heard. The headphone output suffers from a slight hum which means that high volume, but disappears from the presence of his play. The speakers are not excellent, but still the best (least worst?) Found on a netbook. Mobility Autonomy. The S10-2 is positioned just above the 3 kg with its battery cells. It is a very good score for a 10-inch model. The test of independence is seriously mess up the table since it is only 2:18 (play streaming video, wireless off, screen at 100 cdm ²). It is a very bad score, away from the U115 7:00.
In France, the machine will be marketed with a 6 cell battery and 349 euros. Our loan application for this version is already gilded from the manufacturer and we will certainly update this section with the high capacity version.11
