Best Portable Laptops

Some say that the design is old and a bit fragile but we had other impressions when we received the laptop: big and solid. After some few days we started to really like it knowing that we always wanted a laptop with rounded edges like on this one. It seems massive and heavy but it is light and resistant. It’s certainly one of the best portable laptops.
The new XPS 15 or XPS L501X is a new multimedia notebook model from the Dell brand. It has a JBL performing audio system with subwoofer, a NVIDIA GeForce GT 525 M graphics card with 1 GB and an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor.

The laptop has the following configuration: Aluminum Metalloid case, Intel Core i7 processor with 2.2 GHz and it can go to 2.9 GHz with Turbo Boost Technology. Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium, 1 year of warranty, 6 GB of DDR3 SDRAM memory, DVD optical unit, 500 GB hard drive with 7200 rpm, 15.6 inches HD WLED screen with integrated 2 mega pixels camera. NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M with 1 GB of video memory, 9 cells Li-Ion battery

The first impression it gave to us is that it is very big but we were impressed with the fact that the case is made out of Aluminum and it looks good. Dell calls this design Metalloid Aluminum. At the first boot it asked me to backup the system and as we have an original DVD we refused it. The Quad Core i-7 processor and the Nvidia GeForce GT 525M graphics card and the 500 GB hard drive, make it one of the best portable laptops on the market.
Very good peed in launching applications and uses the processor only as it needs. We almost managed to use 3GB out of the 6 it has. The battery in the full option system lasts up to 5 hours and 30-40 minutes after the first tests. With the mention that in the beginning you have to charge it for 12 hours. The jacks are well positioned and the cables aren’t occupying the space on your desk.
In front it has only the card reader which is very useful when you want to upload pictures fast. On the left are the 3.0 USB and the ventilator, on the back there is a miniDisplay port, HDMI, RJ-45 jack, USB 3.0 and the power jack.

In terms of Full HD resolution movie rendering, the pair made out of the Core i5 processor and the Intel HD Graphics interface is more than right, offering enough power to allow running other applications on the background. It seems that the tablet is weighing 1.1 Kg which is a bit too much for a device meant to be held in one hand. The included battery ensures a mobility time of approximately 3.5 hours.

Best Laptop For Gamers

Asus G73J is one of the best laptop for gamers and has impressed us from the first moment we saw it. A black monster with a super configuration. The model is not very new but also not very old. There is a previous version which has an AMD Radeon HD5870 graphic card but the one we tested is equipped with Nvidia GTX460 graphic card. The design is inspired from the structure of a hunting jet. You can easy notice if from other laptops because of the design. It seems a bit thicker than an Alienware laptop but has a series of elements which are better.
First, the keyboard has a simple, elegant and complete layout and also has the numeric part on the right. For a high visibility in night condition these are illuminated from beneath with a discrete white light. Tilting the keyboard to the front is offering a level of comfort, the hands position being advantaged by this type of construction.

Best Laptop For Gamers
The touchpad is another construction element to which few manufacturers are offering the right attention. It has generous sizes and it is positioned almost on the center. The surface is very fine and sensitive and the buttons are easy to press. We can say that the touchpad is one of the greatest today.

Best Laptop For Gamers
The pad is covered with a rubber material which stops the hands from sweating and also gives a good grip which is essential for a passionate gamer. The case is from a plastic material but it has magnesium in order to lower its weight and obtain a more solid construction.
The graphic card is very good. Under the case of this notebook is a more special model of the GTX460 chip which has 1.5 GB of graphic memory. The processor is Core i7 740QM and the quantity of RAM DDR3 memory is 12 GB. Knowing that there is no game optimized to use that much RAM memory, we think that it was built for both gaming and graphic works.

Best Laptop For Gamers
The cooling system is designed in a way in which it does not affect the user and it manages to be very silent. In order to do this they used generous sized radiators and also bigger ventilators.

Best Apple Laptop
Published by OnlyBestLaptops, on May 11 2011, in the categories: apple, laptops
Apple MacBook Air is definitely the best Apple laptop yet. Let’s talk about the version of MacBook Air with 1.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 memory, 128 GB Flash Storage, 11.6 inch LCD screen, 2 USB ports, MiniDisplay port and video camera.
As you can see from the configuration, the Apple laptop seems to miss some ordinary things. We must mention the fact that you can’t upgrade it; what you buy is what you get so you have to think very well before buying one if you want 4GB of RAM memory or only 2 GB like on the basic model. For the SSD hard drive you can make an upgrade because it is installed on a Mini PCI Express board. In exchange the RAM memory is fixed to the motherboard.

Best Apple Laptop
The cover is uni-body, the same as on the MacBook Pro series and it looks very good. The computer is extremely small compared to a MacBook Pro of 17 inch. The computer boots faster than the MacBook Pro does and shuts down even faster. Once turned on you will be amazed by the 1366 x 768 pixels resolution.

Best Apple Laptop
The general impression it is that it is an ordinary computer which moves good for the usual tasks. Probably if we had it connected to a big screen and we could not see which computer is running, we wouldn’t even know it is a MacBook Air with a 1.4 GHz processor. We did not try to run filters in Photoshop or other graphic / video tricks to prove that the processor needs more power. As we were saying at the beginning, this computer was not made for this.

Best Apple Laptop
Too bad it does not have the possibility of 3G connections but on the other side it is true that there is nothing that can replace an USB modem stick. Another element that is missing is the DVD unit which can be bough separately in case you need one. But with the low prices on USB sticks, you can live without one. The operating system for MacBook Air comes on a 8 GB USB stick too. We did not feel the lack of the optical unit but it is possible for some users to need one.

Best Business Laptop

When you’re looking for a business laptop the first things that come to your mind are portability, weight and computing power. The Lenovo ThinkPad X201Tablet brings just that to the game. The series has been popular with people always on the move for some time now and it has been regarded as the best business convertible on the market.
You won’t spot too many differences between X201 and X200. Like its younger brothers it has a black chassis, a fingerprint reader, a screen rotating button and the already established button for the ThinkVantage menu (former Lenovo Utilities). X201 is fairly light and shouldn’t rise any problems to carry around.

Best Business Laptop
ThinkPad X201 doesn’t heat too much which is a plus given the fact that most of the people who will use it won’t always be in the most comfortable setting. The temperature was lower than any category average regardless of the area it was measured on.
As with its many features, X201 has the same keyboard as X200, very responsive but a little too cramped for my taste. It could have used a little more space in order to make it as comfortable as possible. As with X200 the palm resting space is small, so you could find yourself in a quite uncomfortable position after a long use of the keyboard.

Best Business Laptop
The matte (thumbs up!) display is quite bright, has good colors and surprisingly good viewing angles. The screen rotates 360 degrees on a solid hinge. Unfortunately it can get quite “messy” as it gathers a lot of fingerprints with use. The finger input is recognized very well and is very responsive to every command.
You can use the onscreen keyboard, but the stylus is much more comfortable whether you’re just taking notes or typing in an URL.
Although it is light as far as business laptops come, it feels a little heavier than it should but maybe that’s just me being picky al the time.
The worst part about X201 are the speakers. It’s not a multimedia device, I know, but those two speakers can literally make your music unlistenable. In conclusion, a lot of power to use in a small package, could be lighter and thinner but if you do need a business laptop/tablet this would be your best choice.
