Amilo Mini Notebook

Published by admin, on Dec 01 2010, in the categories: Fujitsu

The entire new Fujitsu Amilo Mini are black and white. Its lines are straight and corners are present everywhere. On the back, you can add a shell color, one delivered with the product is burgundy. Honestly, we prefer the camera naked for two reasons: it is determined that pressure and you wonder if it will really stay in place and we do not find it beautiful. Other shell colors, each a bundle colored hull + hull color, are offered as an option at 17 or 20 $.

The Fujitsu Amilo Min‘s keyboard is very compact. Its keys are 1.5 inches wide average. It’s played on a few millimeters, but the comfort of utilization compared to a 10-inch model is significantly worse. This is felt to use the text input. As for the screen, there is little wasted space on the sides of the keyboard. It’s a shame because it could be used to enlarge the keyboard. All bends under pressure and does not give a good impression of quality.

The click buttons are positioned right and left sides of the touchpad. Careful, they generate a sound rather dry. That is missed for discretion. Potis This frees up space for the touchpad. Too bad it does not use all the space and its surface is somewhat limited. The webcam gives a very good picture as you are static. In motion, breaks appear. One can also note the deviations of colors like green, which tends toward the dark, for example. The microphone is of good quality. On the slices of the unit, you’ll find the usual: two USB (that much), 1 RJ45, 1 VGA (output up to 1920×1200 pixels), 2 mini-jack, a multiformat memory card reader and a Express Card slot, for example, a TV tuner, USB additional entries, e-SATA or 3G card. Furthermore, this computer is Bluetooth. The maximum volume of the speaker is higher than average. One can even note an effort made to bass. However, once again, he must prefer the headphones.

Beware, the notebook can be noisy. With continued use, the fan turns on and sounds. This is not a very high volume but fairly sharp and well audible. Play. The game is not the strong point of netbooks. We must learn to settle for 2D games and 3D greedy little. Expect to reduce the level of graphic quality to a minimum even for light gaming.

Mobility Autonomy. The models whose weight is positioned around a kg take the upper hand in terms of mobility. The Amilo Mini is one of those. Independently, this notebook is 2:16.

To increase its duration, the manufacturer will offer a high capacity battery option. The price is not yet known. His charger includes 254 grams on the scale. This ranks among the good students.

Amilo Pi 2530-7002i Computer

Introduction, The Amilo Pi 2530-7002i is a 15.4-inch laptop with the relatively compact Centrino 2 Duo for a low price. However, despite performances that placed him among the best models in this price range, its equipment is relatively low.

Design and finishing, we find the simple design that characterizes the computers from Fujitsu-Siemens. Some will not hesitate to call despite the austere black lacquered edging adds a touch of elegance to cover gray. The finish is flawless, there is no gap between the elements, including the battery that fits snugly in place. The congestion is a typical 15.4-inch computer.

Ergonomics, the keyboard is comfortable with good sized buttons for a pleasant experience. The only significant deficiency, the Delete key is placed on the bottom right then we are more accustomed to find at the top. They get used over time.

The touchpad is also nice and clear. In fact, only fans are shortcut buttons to bother with a single touch direct access to the media player. However, the switch on the front that allows you to turn on or off at will the WiFi is appreciable.

In office use, the fan is inaudible and the heat is limited. It is more present when encoding a movie for example.

Connectors. The connector is a classic and fairly well distributed. It has been said, a switch takes place on the front edge that allows you to turn WiFi on or off in the blink of an eye. Just next door is an infrared port which is increasingly rare nowadays. On the right spine are a single USB port and Express Card slot, while the multi formats and microphone jacks and headphones are placed on the left edge. Finally, the bulk of the connections are back together with two USB ports, RJ11 and RJ45 jacks as well as VGA and DVI. Point of HDMI so while some direct competitors such as HP Pavilion DV9304 now have one. He still would have been preferable to have at least two USB ports on the side for recurring devices such as mice and external hard drive. Above the screen stands a 1.3-megapixel webcam and two pickups are built for videoconferencing.

Screen & Sound. The 15.4-inch screen has a good color matching with the correct viewing angles horizontally. Vertically the image quickly becomes too dark or too light depending on the angle of the screen. The filter supports the contrast Crystal View but as always are reflections of the game and can not fail to admire the screen when a dark image is displayed.

The speakers are located on the front edge of the computer. The sound is clear and relatively powerful. No saturation is to be deplored, but the record is too deep, bass have been conspicuously absent. Too bad when you consider that the Amilo Xa1526 previously tested is the best laptop when it produces that sound.

Handling, Ergonomics. As opposed to the previous MacBooks, which play on the spirit of unity and counting total size of Fujitsu laptop shell of its fragmented and further emphasizes the side by a mix of black and bench. The set is convincing, but we doubt that seduce the women. The keyboard does not occupy the entire surface of the base, unfortunately. With the wasted space on each side, one could cram a numeric keypad. The touchpad is also a bit lost among all the space available to it. He could have elaborated a bit more, to offer a wider area of use. The integrated webcam is correct, despite a slightly noisy and red. The microphone on that Fujitsu transmits an audio stream disturbed by background noise present good, and slightly metallic voice.

At the front of the machine, there are three mini-jacks, including a SPDIF optical. It includes a plug hybrid e-SATA – USB and 2 additional USB. The video output on a second screen passes through the DVI and excludes sound. The speaker is powerful enough to watch a movie. The quality is average and sorely lacking in bass. In use, the machine is slow. If wait times are never very long, they nevertheless present throughout the operation. Ultimately, it is weighing whether you’re the kind of hurry. The results of different tests confirm this impression and do not position this computer among the beasts of races. The index is Vista, once again, not very representative of the actual performance of the machine. The CPU is largely overestimated. In video playback, we stumbled on the HD heavy. Our sample file of a Blu-Ray could be read smoothly. Confining yourself to DVD or HD “light”.

Play. The X4500HD integrated chipset, gives a little more freedom compared to its predecessors. It is, however, not enough to play comfortably. Sub Oblivion for example, must always reduce to the minimum details to achieve a simulated fluid. Ideally, it should turn to mind games or strategy. Mobility Autonomy. The mobility of this unit is not as impacted by its weight (3 kg), by its volume. The computer is big and go for a netbook this model makes you carefully weigh additional difficulties to win. In video playback, we have reached 2h08mn continuously connected with headphones and a screen brightness of 100 cd / m². This is not an exceptional result and it is far, for example, the MacBook Pro with its 3h19mn.

The display of additional information on screen (written smaller too), and greater comfort in office. The downside comes with the game or the greatest number of pixels to manage, requiring a bigger graphics card. The viewing angles are rather closed for a TN. The low-angle turns black, normal, but also the left, to a lesser extent. Visibility is good right, and above, the image turns white.
The colors are, as usual, far from perfect. We strongly recommend that you download the color profile on Focus Digital-to break the dominance of blue by default.
The reactivity of the monitor is quite conventional and equivalent to a TN 5ms. That’s enough for the possible uses of this computer: movies, Internet surfing and office.

Fujitsu Amilo M1437G

Published by OnlyBestLaptops, on Sep 23 2010, in the categories: Fujitsu

Received in silver (black version also available), the Amilo M1437G closed distinctly recall the HP Pavilion ZV6149: same colors, same sobriety, even contrast with darkness of the undercarriage. The similarity ends here, however, because apart from a much thinner line, the Amilo twists much more easily when pressure is exerted on the back of the screen, even too easy.

However, this problem does not occur at the wrist, also silver. A black rectangle is narrow enough in this header, bounded by the two speakers. The sound is unfortunately down, and can at any time to grow. Cleverly, all LEDs are assembled on the hinge, thereby making them visible screen closed as open. The only problem is the heater M1437G, more than any other, and this heat is transmitted to the hull. And especially right wrist rest, located above the graphics card. This is bearable but unpleasant.

The keyboard is classic but complete with the presence of the last column of keys on the right, and the reversal of the Fn and Ctrl keys. In this regard, note that unlike all other models of this comparison, the secondary function assigned to certain keys on the keyboard is placed in the same color as its primary function. Traditionally, another color is used (typically blue), which makes differentiation much clearer! Typing is smooth and quiet. Note nonetheless that the space bar has undergone a weight loss program in order to leave room for buttons Insert, Delete, but also> <. The touchpad has a clear separation for the vertical scroll zone, which in contrast is very clear and removes some approximations in the control of the pointer. The two buttons have the disadvantage of being unfinished, noisy and more to deliver an unpleasant sound. Note that a button is also there to disable the touchpad. Still no sign of a Trackpoint however. Four hot keys are present and provide a default configuration unusual, because apart from the mail client, they can run the laptop-mode multimedia (see below), the Web page from Fujitsu-Siemens (not very useful for once) and finally forcing the reduction of CPU frequency (small fan).

Finally, note that a volume control knob is directly represented on the left edge, next to the headphone jack, on the edge forward, a rear launch of Wi-Fi, which takes place. The connectors on the various tranches of the notebook are interesting. First, perhaps most important, we finally found a DVI port, only to allow for recall to retrieve the digital video signal, the DVI -> VGA course being present in the bundle. Then there is a port Card/54 Express, where Fujitsu-Siemens had the good sense not to lodge a cache, but an infrared remote. That’s when we have grasped the nature of this media Amilio: You can of course use the remote to start the remote PC, run the pointer, and control playback and volume level of audio player. However, another way to use this notebook is to press the multimedia button on the remote control or keyboard shortcut. The laptop starts normally, so a priori, but to arrive directly on the main menu of PowerCinema, Cyberlink Media Center! If the tuner is unfortunately absent, it remains possible to access very easily to movies, videos, music and images included on the disk or CD / DVD insert. Media Center A classic, simple and fast, with the bonus indication of remaining battery level on the main menu. Good point.

Fujitsu-Siemens Notebook Portfolio

Published by OnlyBestLaptops, on Sep 22 2010, in the categories: Fujitsu

Belonging to the category LifeBook, this model Fujitsu-Siemens signed primarily intended for professionals (in contrast to the series Amilo). This explains several technical choices very different from SZ1, but still very interesting as they move out of uniform standards on most consumer notebooks. It also remains in the same category of ultraportable as SZ1, by its size and its slightly larger screen.

In terms of finish, the S7110 has not yet much to do with rival Sony signed the day. Screen closed, the difference is not so obvious. Indeed, the LifeBook sports a matte black dress, the touch enough adhesive (alloy magnesium), successful. Only little trouble, it retains a faint imprint of the fingers that you have the misfortune to ask it, and that task becomes a little darker. The end of the screen receives a line of shiny, reflective plastic, so that we find embedded in the center of the badge manufacturer, who sends a serious compared with the letters “VAIO” on the SZ1. Surprise, found on the underside of the notebook the presence of fur, found only at 2 traps. It is, subjectively (not that much …) in very bad taste, if only because the rest of the undercarriage of the notebook is black plastic: it gives the impression that the builder, Under Pressure hatches for this model, followed those of a different finish and transplant to S7110 … Still this area is rarely in our field of vision.

The screen opens in a rather unusual, via a screen that does not slide laterally but hurries. By contrast with the black visible when the screen is closed, then the very light gray that invades the hull, with the exception of the hinge and a header at the keyboard. The keys are for their part white. Here, our main criticism goes to the rigidity of the chassis for improvement: whether at the screen or wrist is a bit disappointing and certainly well below the SZ1. The keyboard layout of the S7110 is quite good and fairly close to Sony: Ctrl and its proper place, Arr def keys, Esq Imp, Delete, and Pause are present. Yet, less than the width of this model has forced Fujitsu-Siemens to part with the last right column, whose keys are present, however, scattered between the first line and contours of the arrows. Only those differences in provision, the S7110 differs mostly by its smaller keys, and hit very firm and more acute. This is also quite subjective, but all the people we have asked for their opinion, has no preferred this keyboard than the SZ1, or some combination of an IBM Thinkpad.

The inset above incorporates a surprise, an LCD display. Very thin, it actually replaces the usual LED, since that is monochrome and can display some icons: AC power, battery status, keyboard locks, etc.. Original, but we prefer to use the conventional LED, much more readable (and who often remain after the screen closed, which is not the case here). Why not have taken the concept further and permitted to display text please enjoy a small color screen to liven up the playback of audio files, movies, etc.. ?  To the right of this display, there are 4 quick launch buttons configurable, and the start button.  The touchpad, though it rectangular, is fairly standard and overcomes 3 buttons: the left and right clicks, separated by the vertical scroll button, which seems more reliable than the traditional scroll area that must be guessed by placing his index on the right end of the touch region.
