Obviously, it is based on the Li-Ion technology, providing more power than other technology based batteries. The differences between a 6 cell and a 9 cell batteries are: the first battery lasts less than the second one, it gives less power to the laptop and the second important characteristic is the fact that a 6 cell laptop will weigh less than a 9 cell laptop. A battery will last even longer if you reduce the brightness of your screen, if you turn off the Wireless connection and the Bluetooth as well, unless you use them.

And despite what everybody says, you should not totally discharge and then fully charge the battery to make it last longer. These procedures will not increase the life of a Li-Ion battery. You can charge this battery by connecting the AC adapter to an outlet power source.

If you don’t unplug your computer and always keep it connected to a power source, this will not affect the battery. It knows that the computer is connected and it doesn’t start to function until the computer is no longer plugged to an outlet. If you connect the computer again to a power source, let’s say after 15 minutes, the charging process will begin, not taking into account that the time in which the computer was unplugged took only 15 minutes.

The battery is going to last depending on what applications are being run, on how bright your LCD screen is, what type of processor the computer has, what memory was provided for it and other reasons. If you play a DVD, the battery will last a certain period of time, if you play a game, other period, if you listen to music, other one.

The periods of time vary from an application to another and if you run more at the same time, which you sure do, these periods tend to decrease. The Latitude E4300 is a Dell laptop which may look a bit dull, but it has some nice specs for a starting price of $1,349. The laptop has a 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SP9600 processor and 1 GB of RAM which can be upgraded to a maximum of 4 GB. The storage capacity of the hard disk is 80 GB and the graphics card is the integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500MHD.

The 13.3 inch laptop may not be impressive at a glance but it has some features that provide some stiff competition for the laptop from the same category.  Magnesium alloy was used on the bottom chassis and there are also some traces around the LCD bezel. There is flex registered in the palm rest area and a bit around the keyboard. The hinges are fixed and they manage to prevent the display from wobbling. The display has a native resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels which is more than enough for a 13.3 inch screen.

There are quite a lot of brightness levels and the contrast levels are also ok. On the front end of this laptop there is one speaker which produces noise rather than sounds. It has no power at all and even when the sound is turned all the way up to its maximum level, the sound is muffled and somewhat distorted. Since this is a portable notebook and you will probably carry it around a lot, we do recommend some external speakers and when you use it at home, external speakers would be a good idea.

The keyboard on the other hand, is impeccable. It offers high quality typing experience and a back LED light which makes typing in the dark a lot easier. The backlight can be adjusted in different levels and it also has a special sensor that immediately detects the level of lighting within the room. The keyboard just feels right, if you know what I mean. The touchpad is nothing special but it is more responsive than other 13 inch laptop touch pads and there is also a scrolling feature present on the right side.

A 13 inch Dell laptop does not normally have an awesome selection of ports and features. With 2 USB ports, one VGA out, an SD card reader, a Smart Card reader, an Ethernet port, an Express Card slot, a FireWire port, a Kensington lock slot and the headphones and microphone jacks.

The performance of the battery life depends if you use only the normal battery or if you combine it with the battery slice. It also depends on the power management profile that you choose and the programs you run. If you are determined to save power, you could get about 6 hours and 30 minutes and if you combine it with the standard battery with the battery slice and you don’t choose the power saving profile, the average battery life is around 5 hours and 45 minutes. Quite impressive I might add.

The design of the model we tested is called “Pearl”. The gray brushed aluminum mixes therefore a glossy white plastic on the hood. Entirely aluminum, the Dell Adamo exudes quality. We can not help but compare it to the MacBook Air (MBA), adopts the same principle as the mono-block chassis in one piece. It remains for cons on volumes rather rectangular, and the style is quite easily recognizable Dell.

The machine is very thin, even more than the MBA, and its thickness is constant when the screen is closed. In fact, the connection is remote to the back of the machine. It’s aesthetic, but inevitably less convenient to access taken. We would have liked to see at least one USB port on each side of the machine, so plug in a mouse for example. Good point regarding the charger which is very small.

The finish is excellent, with a brushed aluminum look of the most beautiful effect. It’s simple and classy at once. It is unfortunate that Dell has chosen to put a shiny plastic box on top, because it easily retains fingerprints. All still leaves an impression of robustness. Nothing bent, the magnets that keep the screen closed is quite powerful, and the hinge seems solid.

The touchpad is very good: precise, very good slide, wide, multipoint, a true happiness. Too bad the scroll areas remain on the sides, since the multicast would have to use two fingers to scroll horizontally and vertically. Clicks are well integrated (no game), firm and responsive. The backlit keyboard has large keys and flexible. Typing is sweet and pleasant, especially since the fineness of the machine does not break the wrists. The typography of the letters is pretty special, but fits well with the general form of the machine. Located above the keyboard, touch-sensitive keys to control volume and playback of music or video.

Dell Adamo 13 webcamlive webcam delivers a good picture, smooth, with colors observed. It lacks a few cons resolution and sharpness. The mic is okay, but suffers from its location to the left of the keyboard. The machine is pretty quiet at rest, but a fan comes on periodically when the system is sought. It appears that the aluminum hull is not enough to remove enough heat, which is a shame because we could approach a passive solution and totally silent. The connection is mainly in the rear, with 3 USB 2.0 ports, one combo e-SATA, an RJ45, the electrical outlet and a DisplayPort output. For external displays without this interface, Dell provides a DisplayPort to DVI adapter. On the right side is the SIM card slot (3G/HSDPA modem), and the headphone jack.

The audio portion of Dell Adamo has unfortunately been sacrificed on the altar of finesse, since the speakers are deported to the rear of the machine. Needless to expect to sound convincing, except perhaps for the person in front of you. The headphone output is clean enough, which gives a little catching up.

The big brother of the mini-notebook called Dell Mini 12 is the star today. These two figures give the diagonal: 12 inches and make a giant in the world of netbooks which the vast majority of computers capped at 10 inches. The calculations of our new test procedure applied 4-6 times longer than the last 18 inches tested. This poor result cache is good news, he still carried out all operations. Just this requested considerably more time and this should be adopted.

On the operating system, I probably would not choose the version with Windows Vista (too heavy). The alternative Ubuntu is interesting for fans of free OS and free, yet I certainly my bearings on XP that works very well on these small machines.

A point on the video: limit yourself to SD (DVD etc..) And make a cross on High Definition. Play. The more you have of pixels displayed, more work is difficult for the graphics card. Here, the Dell Mini 12 must manage 1280×800 pixels, or 66% more pixels. Might as well be clear is mission impossible for recent games. Remain humble on old titles and also prefer the 2D. Audio. The speaker does not have transcended far from it. The maximum volume is low and the overall dish. Mobility Autonomy. With 1.2 kg on the scales and a charger 181 grams, the Mini 12 We were surprised by its lightness. Unfortunately we soon became disillusioned on this section because of its autonomy.
