The most horrid thing on a business trip is really not the time zone difference, but unresolved pile of papers that add ruthless. Blessed is he who possesses a notebook and it can solve the most urgent tasks during his trip or even at the hotel. Before buying such a mobile companion, you must think on what conditions must be fulfilled. Unfortunately, upgrading later – quite a job quite frequent on the agenda at a desktop computer is difficult, both for reasons of space, as well as financial.

For business users working with ambitious plans daily, Thin & Light notebooks are the best compromise between performance and handling, and may be the best business laptops. The displays are of 14-15 inches, which guarantees high resolution and a legibility without too much effort, and keyboards can also be used with ten fingers without problems.

Despite the luxury, Thin & Light notebooks, as they say in their name, are very “modest” in terms of weight and size: those under 2.5 kilograms, they are not too heavy to carry them on business trips. Tablet-PCs, some would say that are the best business laptops, are a special category of notebooks, on which you can write directly on the touch screen with a digital pen and it also has software to convert handwriting recognition in digital documents. And typically control is made by menu also with pen. Thus, the Tablet-PC can be used even standing up or in other situations in which throttle opening the display would be annoying. Basically, there are two types of Tablet-PC: “slates” that are controlled only with pen and have jacks for external keyboard and mouse, and “convertibles”, which come as other notebooks with its own keyboard. This can be hidden from the touchscreen, in case of need.

Ultra-portable notebooks is a distinct range of notebooks with smaller size and low weight. I should mention at the outset that this article relates to the familiar netbooks or mini notebook. We will discuss further the ultra-portable notebooks in business class. It is clear that people interested in this type of notebook they want performance, reliability, attractive design and above all mobility. I can not imagine a business man running from one meeting to another having a notebook bag that weighs 3 kilograms.

Toshiba Portege A600-133 is part of the business notebook level.

I could said that the Portege A600 has a classic design, trivial that does not stands out. That does not mean it is bad but just not breathtaking when you see him. But construction is very good and leaves no room for interpretation. Used processor, an Intel Core 2 Duo SU9300 with a frequency of 1.2GHz (FSB – 800Mhz, L2 Cache – 3MB), consume so little, that people at Toshiba say that the autonomy of the notebook is more than 7 hours. Portege A600 configuration also includes 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 250GB hard disk – 5400rpm, DVD-RW optical drive and Intel GMA 4500MHD video card. TFT WXGA LED backlight technology has a diagonal of 12.1 inches and a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. At the connectivity chapter, Toshiba’s notebooks have a lot of connectors: eSATA, USB, Lan, jack for headphones and microphone, Express Card slot, SD, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Dell Adamo
Feared rival of the MacBook Air model, Adamo, uses the same type of processor as Toshiba but the autonomy is slightly lower. Adamo is equipped with 2GB RAM DDR3, 128GB hard disk – SSD, Intel GMX 4500MHD video card and a WLED screen of 13.4 inches. Like the MacBook Air, Adamo’s optical drive is also missing. At the weight chapter this laptop weighs the most, 1.8kg, and is the most expensive with a price of about $ 2000. Adamo with its 16.5mm thickness is the thinnest notebook, maybe this price is justified to some extent. Adamo, also as MacBook Air, is limited regarding the battery. Specifically, if you have problems with it and consider it to be replaced, you will have to send the notebook in Dell’s service because only they will be able to solve this problem. That means at least two things: lost time and higher expenses.

Apple Macbook Air – part of the business notebook level.
Apple MacBook Air is the thinnest notebook, ultraportable and stylish fitted with a 13 inch screen and a normal keyboard. Under the slim and elegant look hides an Intel Core 2 Duo 1.6GHz, 13-inch display with bright LED, 2GB RAM, 80GB 1.8-inch drive or 64GB SSD, 802.11n wireless and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, USB 2.0, a micro-DVI port and an audio output for headphones. The battery of 37 Watt / hour lithium polymer offers a range of about 1-3 hours depending on use.

Users who wish laptops with the look and features of business laptops now have  a new alternative from the known company HP, which still is the leader in this segment of products. ProBook series from HP comes to offer in addition multimedia performance, besides the “strength” needed by this market. Brings more models with processors from both leading producers, 14.1-inch series was named 4410′s 4415s, and it will have Intel GMA X4500HD or Mobility Radeon HD 4330 video card , Blu-Ray optical drive will be optional and HDMI’s will be standard. Dell Vostro V13
Vostro is the range value of the manufacturer Dell, but the new V13 model doesn’t seem to fit in this range. The design of the case in the back side looks like the first Dell Adamo and it seems that the experience of crooked component was used also for this ultra-portable 13.3 inches. Although it beats the Sony VAIO X flexibility, Vostro V13 is 16,5-19,7 mm thick. Those interested, will have to choose between Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300, SU3500 Core 2 Solo and Celeron 743. Many years ago people were using some really big and heavy computers, that were also capable of doing just some simple tasks. But in time the technology evolved more and more, so that today we have very small and light computers, that are capable of doing very complex tasks. And we refer here to the laptops, which are portable computers. A laptop has all the components of a desktop PC (display screen, keyboard, processor, RAM memory etc), and it is capable of doing the same tasks. But the difference is at dimensions and weight. A laptop is much smaller, thinner and lighter than a PC, and it has all of the components integrated into a single unit. So this means that it is highly portable, and can be taken almost anywhere with you.

There are many types of laptops, and they can be used by many categories of people. And one certain category of people, that used laptops from their beginnings, are the business men. Many business men are using laptops and taking them when traveling for business purposes, but they are also used inside some companies, at the offices, instead of the classic desktop computers. Not only that they save a lot of space, they use less energy and they can also be easily moved from one office to the other, and even outside of it. So the best small business laptops will need to fulfill some conditions, and here they are: first of all they need to come with a good operating system, for example the Windows 7 Professional or the Windows 7 Ultimate, that are great for business men and their specific activities and programs.

Since it is possible that the business man will take its laptop outside the office, and use it at a business meeting in other city, or anywhere else, his notebook will also need to have a good battery life (at least 4 hours or more). Since a business laptop has a lot of top secret information on it, about the company or the business it will need a lot of protection…a bigger one compared to a simple laptop used by a regular person. So a password on the operating system is not enough, and it will also need to have advanced security features, such as file encryption or a fingerprint reader. And this way only one person can use that laptop, and have access to all the files.

A good small business laptop also needs to have both wireless and Ethernet connectivity for easy access to the internet and also Bluetooth connectivity. Depending on the activities the business man is doing, and on the software programs he is using, he may also need a powerful computer, with a fast processor, a big RAM memory and also a large hard drive to store a lot of information. An Intel Core i3 processor or better is recommended, 4 GB of RAM memory would be ok and a hard drive of around 320 GB. Also depending on the programs he is using, the business man may also need a good graphics engine, with at least 512 MB of dedicated video memory. And of course, for carrying the laptop much easier when on the road, it needs to be light, with a weight smaller than 5.5 lbs.

You also need to protect all your files from threads from the internet and viruses, and that’s why you will also need antivirus and a firewall. Since a business man is traveling a lot, its laptop will need to be durable and resistant, and also to have a good battery life. And finally, the design needs to be as simple as possible. Of course a business man can’t have a pink laptop, so usually a black one is the best choice.

As we mentioned in the previous article there are more than 100 different models of laptops on the market, from different producers. Each of them have different features that are good for specific actions and tasks. Some laptops are more appropriate for video games, others are good for watching movies, others for music and so on. And of course there are also some laptops good for business men and their usual activities.

We can’s say for sure which is the best business laptop in the world, but we can tell you some of the features needed for a good one, and also give you an example. If we are talking about a laptop for a small business, first of all it will need an operating system with tools to support business activities, for example the Microsoft 7 Professional or the Mac OS X. But luckily most of the new laptops already come with an installed operating system, and even though you don’t have the Professional edition the Home Premium edition can work just fine. Considering that the laptop of a company or of a business man contains all sorts of important and top secret information, it will also need some extra protection compared to a regular one. This one has a much smaller price of just 679 dollars, and the features it has are quite good, and can be enough for any business man. So as you can see the design is simple and elegant while the processor is a good Intel Core i3 @ 2.13 Ghz that can be quite enough for any business activity. The RAM memory is also very good (4 GB DDR 3) while the hard drive offers plenty of disc space (500 GB). The keyboard is spill resistant for extra durability while this model also comes with an installed version of the Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Edition 64 bit.
