Developed along a long period of time, ASUS NX90 is the result of a great collaboration between the ASUS engineers on the hardware part and the chief designer behind the Bang & Olufsen products, David Lewis on the aesthetic part. Going on, the notebooks have reached extreme performances on the graphic processing, even if they focused on the audio quality instead. ASUS NX90 is a great product and can be considered an example of elegance and design and a combination of high end components.

As it was expected, the combination between the Bang & Olfusen name associated with any kind of device and the top generation hardware from ASUS is coming with a worthy price of $3000. Since you remove it from the box you’ll realize that we are talking about some other product class than the mainstream. It’s great but not very portable weighing 4.4 Kg. The screen has 18.4 inch and on its side are placed the very big speakers. In order to make an idea about how big the speakers are, imagine that when you close the laptop, the speakers are covering the bottom side of the laptop.

In matter of materials, they used mostly polished aluminum which is very aesthetic even on long term. Unfortunately it can be considered a fingerprint magnet. So if you are not a user who likes to wipe his toys very often, the part on the base of the keyboard where you rest your wrists might not be so attractive after a short time. For the keyboard and the touchpads they used matte black plastic which comes with a plus in usability.

The keys are well distanced and you have two touchpads each with two buttons – for right click and left click. This was thought to be used also by the left handed users and the right handed ones. But this could also be a disappointment for some because in order to add two touchpads they had to remove a numpad.

In matter of assembly quality, it’s easy to notice the fact that at this chapter it is perfect. There was nothing left unverified and even if we are talking about a big notebook it is true it gives the feeling of strong and compact construction.

An ASUS Eee PC 1005HA has sit here for almost one year and we realized what works and what does not work and even if now it’s not sold anymore it’s worth our appreciation. Its successor is the ASUS Eee PC1006P, it has the same features and knowing the previous experience probably it doesn’t have any of the 1005HA bugs which by the way are almost nonexistent.

The laptop has an elegant and simple design which is very appreciated by us. We had the version on black and that’s why it seemed smaller and cuter. The case is shiny and unfortunately it acts just like a magnet for all the fingerprints. Still, ASUS Eee PC 1005HA is a beautiful laptop – the 1005P looks exactly the same. From the weight side there are no problems because it had 1.3 Kg and was very easy and comfortable to carry in any position so it is one of the best laptops for traveling.

Obviously we had time to see what this beautiful toy can do. ASUS is saying that the battery will last up to 11 hours. As you would expect it is a value of some testing with everything stopped. In reality, the battery lasts up to 5 or 6 hours with WiFi and approximately 4 or 5 hours with 3G modem in the USB port. We don’t have to mention the browsing; right?

The laptop is running very bad on Power Saver and maybe that is why we used it on Balanced almost all the time. We installed the Super Hybrid Engine application from ASUS which was set on Auto all the time. The conclusion was interesting because either if the laptop was on Power Saver and was running bad or if it was on Balanced and it gained power when needed, the battery lifetime varied widely. So it’s not worth getting mad with it.

We tested almost everything that could be tested. It had Windows 7, Ubuntu Netbook Remix, Windows XP with Service Pack 3 and so on. Knowing that it has only 1 GB of RAM memory, Windows XP was the best option. It seemed that even the battery lasted longer on it. In Ubuntu 9.04 we had some problems with wireless which were solved pretty easy in the end. Windows 7 was running a bit slowly.

Best Gamers Laptop

The G Series from ASUS is familiar to many gamers to which it is really dedicated and it is very appreciated by reviewers for the exceptional hardware and the performances in tests. We already have a review of the most powerful G series but we’ll have one soon because we had in our hands the most spectacular from the G series laptops, the G53JW gaming laptop equipped with the 3D Vision technology from Nvidia. In terms of technical specifications there are only some differences from our previous review so we won’t insist too much on these and we will talk about what it makes it different: the 3D technology incorporated by the younger brother of G73.

It is not the first time when a laptop from ASUS is incorporating the 3D technology from Nvidia and we have to mention about G51 which was one of the hottest tests of a hot summer and a world premier in this domain. G53 is an evolution and not only in design which has elements reminding of a famous bomber, but with the hardware equipment. If G51 came with the ordinary dongle next to the 3D glasses, G53 alarms you a bit when you take them from the box because you only find the glasses. Initially we thought that the guys from ASUS forgot to put it in the box but we discovered that it just does not have that, all the functions of the dongle are already integrated in the video card of the laptop.

If on G71 we had Full High definition resolution with 1920 x 1080 pixels, G53 goes on 720p. The screen is very pretentious when talking about viewing angles which are pretty limited in 3D. Of course it’s not hard to adjust your position when you play a game and you’re on the screen with the head shot fever, but when you see a movie and you relax it is possible to reach in a position where you see some parts of the screen darken.

G53JW is obviously a gaming laptop and this does not sound so good when you want to carry it after you at the office because it weighs 3.3 Kg so we recommend searching for other versions for mobility.

Best 15-inch Laptop

Published by OnlyBestLaptops, on May 19 2011, in the categories: Asus, laptops

Today we will present you one of the best 15 inch laptop on the market. It is called ASUS N53JF which is a multimedia model meaning for music, movies and games with a super Intel Core i5 processor. So it’s 3 in 1 with a reasonable price between $1000 – $1200. A bigger alternative with 17.3 inches and a bit more money is the ASUS N73JF. We have chosen this model because we consider that it fits anyone.

ASUS N53JF has a unique design which is met also on the 17 inch model. We like that fact that the manufacturers went for a design in two colors: metal gray on the exterior and black on the interior. From the side you can see the elegant gray stripe which is offering a premium aspect.

The configuration is more than great because it has an i5 processor with 2.5 GHz frequency near to the 4 GB of RAM memory. The games will run great thanks to the GeForce GT425M graphics card with 1 GB virtual memory. You will probably say that a laptop with such a configuration should not go over $1000. Well the difference in the price is justified by the presence of the 3.0 USB which has a transfer rate 10 times faster than on the 2.0 USB, so you can transfer a Blu-Ray movie in about a minute.

ASUS N53JF has an nVidia graphics card GeForce GT425M which has Optimus technology for lowered power consumption and improved performances. Anyway you can’t compare it to the ATI 5470 model or with the 310M from GeForce because are way inferior from all the points of view.

When talking about multimedia, ASUS N53JF has DVD optical drive, card reader, a speaker and a 0.3 mega pixels web camera. The autonomy of the 6 cell battery is very good because the laptop is coming with some of the best technologies for reducing the power consumption and increasing the performances. It weighs almost 2.7 Kg and it also has numeric keyboard.

It’s good because it seems cheap when looking at performance / price ratio, it has a modern design, and it comes from ASUS and has a video card great for games. The fact that has a metal case is great because you won’t have any scratches or fingerprints.

In terms of Full HD resolution movie rendering, the pair made out of the Core i5 processor and the Intel HD Graphics interface is more than right, offering enough power to allow running other applications on the background. It seems that the tablet is weighing 1.1 Kg which is a bit too much for a device meant to be held in one hand. The included battery ensures a mobility time of approximately 3.5 hours.

ASUS Eee Slate EP121 was launched this year for a price of $1000 for the basic version.
