Alienware New Laptop

Manufacturer truly apart, the staff from Alienware cultivates a taste for difference and has already shown the series of laptops m7700 standards whose overall dimensions puzzled users. It was then Alienware to offer portable machines capable of competing with the most powerful desktop PC.
If I had to make some concessions on including the size of the screen (a 17-inch “only”), these machines were providing great strengths and Alienware could not stop there way. Today, the manufacturer takes advantage of the Turion 64 for replacing the Pentium IV and gourmet to go a bit far …
At first glance, one can say that the Aurora mALX sensation: I had never received such a card to test mobile and content is in the image of the imposing container since the measurements of the machine “Alienware is absolutely unparalleled. Think of it as the beast reached almost 7 kg to 476 mm to 343 mm! Only the thickness is surprisingly low because the regulars will notice a significant decline since the m7700 (up from 53 mm to 35 mm on mALX).
These measurements are not just there to play the one with the biggest and Alienware has really exploited this space to indulge its customers. Thus, at the opening, it is difficult to accept a “wow” as the size of the screen is impressive. Note that here we have a model 19 “! Alienware has not increased the resolution (1680×1050) since the m7700, but this is quite sufficient.
On top of this screen, we note the presence of a very discreet small camera with 1.3 megapixels which is perfect for fans of video conferencing for example. The keyboard is not bad either puisqu’Alienware used the space to offer us a real keypad: the most demanding, however, emphasize that the manufacturer could even include a full 105 key keyboard. The typing comfort and impeccable arrangement of all this very easily outweigh any minor defect.
Above the keyboard, we find the classical function buttons, notably to turn the machine to activate the standby or launch different applications. The highly successful integration of these different buttons deserves a little commentary as their chromium marries brilliantly with black lacquered the entire machine.
This is also the same with the speakers present on both sides of the keyboard or the touchpad. This is fairly accurate even though I encountered some difficulties with the function double click by tapping directly on the pad. Since you use the buttons left and right, there is obviously no problem.
Nothing to say no more about the arrangement of connectors around the beast. With dimensions of mALX, Alienware has of course had the opportunity to incorporate many ports as you can see from our table: in fact, nothing is missing and there are at least five USB 2.0 ports example! Sense given the size of the Aurora mALX, rich functionality is still supported by the aesthetics of the machine: you can not appreciate the black lacquer, but the finish is outstanding and if the PC is definitely very impressive, Alienware has managed to treat appearances.
Unlike the MSI, Alienware was not interested in the new Turion 64 X2 for its impressive machine. The manufacturer has satisfied the Turion 64 “basic” he still chose it as powerful version ML-44 which is embedded on the motherboard. Clocked at 2.4GHz, this processor is equipped with 2×512 KB of cache second level and is supported by a good amount of RAM: 2GB DDR2 PC-3200. Alienware says that only two memory modules are arranged in Aurora mALX and this information is confirmed by CPU-Z.11
Toshiba Qosmio vs Alienware M17x
Published by OnlyBestLaptops, on Nov 03 2010, in the categories: alienware, Toshiba
Gamers are the single most unsatisfied category of laptop users. Why is this? Because, first of all there are rather few choices for them. It’s full of netbooks on the market. It’s also full of entry-level laptops. Systems for gaming however, are not as easy to find. There is a good reason for that. It’s somewhat hard to fit latest technology graphics, an amazing screen and a good cooling system on such a small device. Or, rather, it was hard. Some manufacturers are finally getting around to offering laptops for gamers.
At the moment there are a couple of gaming/multimedia monster notebooks out on the market. In this particular article we’re going to analyze which laptop is better, Toshiba Qosmio X500 or Alienware M17x. Now, any serious gamer has definitely heard of Alienware. Just like any serious smoker has heard of Zippo. Alienware’s latest, the M17x offers quite a lot, but for a hefty price too.
The basic configuration starts at $1799 but you should seriously consider putting in a bit more money for an ideal configuration. The design of the M17x is what Alienware accustomed its customers to, classy but flashy at the same time, in a red and black color scheme and with an aluminum chassis.

Moving on to specifications, a top of the line configuration will get you an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300 quad-core processor running at 2.53Ghz, Dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 280M graphics cards in Sli with 1GB RAM each switchable to an integrated GeForce 9400M with 256MB, 8GB of DDR3 RAM, 1TB storage space (2 x 500GB hard drives), Blue-ray reader and a 9-cell battery. Also equipped is a 17 inch screen with a native resolution of 1920 x 1200, good brightness and great image.
Now let’s move on to special features. One of them is the Alienware special LED lighting system called AlienFx. On the notebook there are ten distinct lighting zones (including keyboard, touchpad, media keys etc). These lighting zones can be customized and users can create their own themes. The M17x also comes with AlienSense (facial recognition software) or Stealth mode (graphics switch to the 9400M and ensure lower consumption). Because it also has an effective cooling system the M17x is a great gaming laptop that has very little competition. The only issue is it’s over the roof price.
So how does Toshiba’s Qosmio X500 stand compared to the M17x? One point in which it’s stronger is definitely the 18.4 inch display. The X500′s spec list is somewhat more modest than in the case of Alienware’s desktop replacement and it includes an Intel quad-core i7 processor, GeForce GTS250M graphics with 1GB of RAM, DDR3 RAM and a fast 7200rpm hard drive (the actual numbers depend upon configuration).
The Toshiba laptop is however considerably more affordable than the M17x and can be bought for around $1500. Another advantage to the Toshiba may be the Harman Kardon speakers. All in all, the Toshiba Qosmio X500 will do quite well for gaming but may prove more useful for the intense media user. So which laptop is better, Toshiba Qosmio or Alienware M17x? The users are the only ones that can decide that, based on their own needs and wants.11

Marrying two modes to be incompatible, that is the bet of the Alienware m11x. Fans of the brand will not change that, the design is reminiscent of m11X already present on other models. The keyboard also incorporates the ingenious system which backlight color can be customized according to the desires of the user.
The keyboard layout requires a slight adjustment period before returning to a striking fluid. The slightly shiny surface does not stick but makes visible fingerprints. The multitouch touchpad is well sized.
This version is very well made, blacks are deep and vivid colors. The treatment does not generate too bright reflections. As for viewing angles, they are quite open.

The audio system delivers a satisfactory quality for an ultra-portable. The connection is complete and the 1.3 MP camera offers a satisfactory quality.
The Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 can be overclocked to 1.73 GHz to deliver slightly higher performance than other ultra-portable. But the strength of the m11x is its graphics card, a Geforce GT 335m. This allows to run the latest games out without having to make concessions on the graphics settings. For example, in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 in native resolution, the number of fps varies between 29 and 44. However, the slab of 11.6 inches is a bit narrow to really immerse themselves in the action. Fortunately, it is possible to use a Full HD TV via HDMI.

The downside is, this power implies a frame more imposing than that usually offered on the ultra-portable 11.6-inch. The heat is fairly well contained at the expense of more noise present.
By using the integrated graphics and setting the backlight to minimum, autonomy may exceed seven hours. Small regret, technology Nvidia Optimus is not present. This laptop is perfect for games like Call of Duty 4 The Modern Warfare 2, or for Mass Effect 2. If you are a gamer you should buy this laptop for yourself.11

The slab is of good quality, the colors are good, accurate display and viewing angles are fairly open.
The sound quality delivered by the speakers is disappointing. The connection is complete with hand ports including eSATA and ExpressCard.
Satisfactory performance with Intel Core i3. As for its graphics card, it allows you to run games not too resource intensive 3D. By adjusting the graphics settings, it is even possible to play more demanding titles.
