I think that one of the best entry level laptops is the Dell Inspiron 1525. This laptop is super cool for people that need a cheap, yet reliable unit. I bought this laptop for my faculty projects and it has been working just fine for the last 14 months. Except for some minor problems like the left and right touchpad button which are pretty loose from all this usage, the laptop works impeccably.
