The Aspire 4736 is an Acer notebook series. The Aspire 4736 is the forth laptop part of the third line (4xxx) released within the Aspire series. The Aspire 4xxx line includes beside the Aspire 4736, several other Aspire notebook, such as Acer Aspire 4540, Acer Aspire 4551, Acer Aspire 4730, and Acer Aspire 4810 Timeline. Furthermore, Aspire 4736 is not the direct successor of any previous Acer products, but can be considered a technological upgrade of Aspire 4730. Although it was not developed as a back-to-back product, the Aspire 4736 was a stand-alone product, since Acer delivered the Aspire 4736 notebooks within a single configuration.

The Aspire 4736 was succeeded (from the technological point of view) by its direct successors, also part of the Aspire 4xxx line (from the North and South America region Acer portfolio). The Aspire 4736 series included the main features of the Aspire notebook series, such as Acer Crystalbrite, Acer Quickcharge, Acer Signal-up, Acer Gridvista, Acer Dasp+, Acer Video Conference, and Acer TPM. However, hardware features, including the processor, the system memory, the display, the operating system, and even hard disk capacity, were strictly depending upon the configurations available within the Aspire 4736 series.

The Aspire 4736 was conventionally linked by Acer with the statement carefree multimedia enjoyment. Acer marketed the Aspire 4736 series by using within the marketing campaign its key features: The Aspire 4736 with 14″ HD display is ideal for carefree multimedia enjoyment and communication on the go. The Aspire 4736-4037 is available at select retail outlets. Depending on the location the Aspire 4736 included at least one Aspire 4736 notebook configurations, the AS4736Z-4037. Other Aspire 4736 configurations were available on specific regions (North and South America, Europe, Middle East, South Africa, and Asia-Pacific region) and were not available worldwide.

Acer developed the Aspire series in order to cover from essentials to high performances. The Aspire series is aimed at the casual household user or for small business use. The Aspire series covers both desktop computers and laptops. Depending on the location the Aspire laptops can included different configurations. These configurations are strictly available on specific regions (North and South America, Europe, Middle East, South Africa, and Asia-Pacific region) and are not available worldwide.

The Aspire 4736 series is the forth notebook in-line within the Aspire 4xxx series. The Aspire 4736 was developed for multi-core processing and solid all-around performance. The Aspire 4736 with 14″ HD display is ideal for carefree multimedia enjoyment and communication on the go. Based on Principled Technologies’ benchmark testing, using Bapco’s MobileMark 2007 Productivity test, battery life varies depending on product specifications, computer settings, and applications or features launched, and may be reduced if Windows Aero is enabled. The marketing campaign used for the Aspire 4736 included several of its benefits.

The first configuration Aspire 4736 featured the Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium, Intel Pentium Processor T4200 (1MB L2 cache, 2.0GHz, 800MHz FSB), 3GB (2/1) DDR3 800 SDRAM, 250GB hard drive, integrated Super-Multi drive, 5-in-1 card reader, Acer CineCrystal 14.0″ WXGA (1366 x 768) TFT display, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M, 802.11b/g/Draft-N WLAN, gigabit LAN, V.92 modem, webcam.

Acer included within the Aspire 4730 series the Super-Multi drive (Read – 24X CD-ROM, 24X CD-R, 24X CD-RW, 8X DVD-ROM, 8X DVD-R, 8X DVD+R, 6X DVD-ROM DL (double-layer), 6X DVD-R DL (double-layer), 6X DVD+R DL (double-layer), 6X DVD-RW, 6X DVD+RW, 5X DVD-RAM, Write – 24X CD-R, 16X CD-RW, 8X DVD-R, 8X DVD+R, 4X DVD-R DL (double-layer), 4X DVD+R DL (double-layer), 6X DVD-RW, 8X DVD+RW, 5X DVD-RAM). With a width of 342 mm, length of 239 mm, and a varying height from the lowest 23 mm (front side) to the highest 38.6 mm (back side), the Aspire 4736 series has a standard starting weight of 5.1 lb. (2.3kg) depending on configuration (with integrated AC adapter).

Because of the physical dimensions, Acer included within the Aspire 4736 series the 86-key keyboard, inverted T cursor layout, independent standard numeric keypad, hotkey controls, international language support, 10 function, four cursor, two Microsoft Windows keys, Acer PowerSmart key, Acer Backup, WLAN, volume up/down, touchpad lock easy-launch buttons, Play/pause, stop, previous, next media keys (printed on keyboard), Multi-gesture touchpad supporting circular-motion scrolling, pinch-action zoom, page flip.

Acer delivered the Aspire 4736 series with a medium range of interface ports: DC-in, RJ-11 modem, RJ-45 LAN, VGA, Headphones/speaker/line-out with SPDIF support, Microphone, Line-in, HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) with HDCP (high-bandwidth digital-content protection), three USB 2.0, and 5-in-1 card reader for optional MultiMediaCard, Secure Digital card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO or xD-Picture Card. The built-in AC adapter eliminates additional bulky baggage and unnecessary extras, while the removable lithium-ion batteries provided up to up to 4.6 hours life depending on configuration and usage (may be reduced if Windows Vista Aero is enabled).

By using the Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M, Acer enabled better external video resolutions, with a maximum external video resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 pixels, at 16.7 million colors, and non-interlaced resolution with max. refresh rate: 1,280 x 1,024. Furthermore, Acer embedded within the Aspire 4736 Dolby-optimized surround-sound system with two integrated stereo speakers (Optimized third-generation Dolby Home Theater audio enhancement; True 5.1-channel surround-sound output; Microsoft DirectSound compatibility; Headphones/speaker/line-out with SPDIF support, microphone and line-in ports; Acer PureZone technology with two integrated stereo microphones featuring beam forming, echo cancellation and noise suppression technologies).

The Aspire notebooks were shipped with Intel Wireless WiFi Link network connection supporting 802.11b/g/Draft-N wireless LAN (Acer SignalUp technology for enhanced antenna efficiency, WI-FI CERTIFIED), and Gigabit LAN, Wake-on-LAN ready, and V.92 56Kbps data/fax modem, PTT (postal, telegraph, telephone) certified in select countries. Moreover, Acer included within the Aspire laptop the following software applications: Acer Arcade Deluxe, Acer Backup Manager, Acer Crystal Eye, Acer eRecovery Management, Acer Game Console, Acer GridVista, Acer Launch Management, Acer PowerSmart Manager, Adobe Acrobat® Reader, Adobe Flash Player, Google Desktop, Google Toolbar, McAfee Internet Security Suite (trial version), NTI Media Maker.

The Aspire 4736 notebooks were delivered with one-year parts and labor limited warranty with concurrent International Traveler’s Warranty. From the technological point of view, the Aspire 4736 was succeeded by the other Aspire 4xxx products, which currently includes the following Aspire models, such as Aspire 4810 Timeline, Aspire 4730, Aspire 4551, and Aspire 4540.
